WAIHEKE ART AWARDS - a wonderful evening Waiheke Art Gallery and so grateful to be included in the final 38 (chosen from 281 entries) Thankyou Dick Frizzell

Congratulations to the premium award winner Rowan Love and the other winners. A huge variety of different subject matter … something for everyone!

The exhibition is on until 29th November so hop on a ferry and visit the beautiful island of Waiheke - a special paradise that inspires art!

RESIDIUM DESIGN DAY — THIS SATURDAY!

I’ll be showing some new works alongside a few old favourites … AND there’s a chance to WIN an artist proof of my new work, Viva La Chroma! 💥

There’ll be plenty happening throughout the day, including design inspiration, expert advice and the chance to explore the latest ideas for building, renovating and styling your home. Come along for a chat, check out my artwork and enjoy a wander around the Residium Design + Building Centre.

I’ll be there from 10am–2.30pm, and the event runs from 9am–3pm.

WAIHEKE ART AWARDS FINALIST - Delighted to share that Love Lies Flowing has been selected as a finalist for the 2026 Walker & Hall Waiheke Art Award

From 281 entries from across Aotearoa, just 36 works have been selected for the exhibition

Love Lies Flowing explores the tension between abundance and impermanence - cascading amaranths spilling between botanical form, gesture and ornament. A nest and butterflies become quiet markers of time, evoking fragility, transformation and renewal

I’m thrilled to see this work take its place among the finalists, and to have it considered by this year’s selector, Dick Frizzell thank you 🙏

Magazine’s upcoming 10th Anniversary Book, New Zealand artist Emma Bass EMMA BASS creates immersive floral photographs that transform familiar blooms into spaces for reflection, beauty, and restoration. Drawing on her background in nursing and decades as a photographer, Bass explores the quiet relationship between aesthetics and wellbeing.

As she shares in her interview, “Beauty is not a luxury—it is a form of care.” That philosophy guides a practice rooted in attentiveness, where richly layered floral imagery encourages viewers to slow down and experience a moment of stillness.

Since appearing in Create! Magazine, Bass has expanded her international reach through collaborations with Trinity Hill Winery, Laboratorio Capri, and Breast Cancer Cure NZ. Her work has also found an important place in hospitals and healthcare environments, where art contributes to patient wellbeing.

Create! Magazine is honored to celebrate a decade of contemporary art by publishing a look back at previously selected artists: their achievements, career growth, and more since being published. Stay tuned for the book launch in fall 2026, and join our newsletter to stay up to date.

THANKYOU - What an amazing event last night. My work raised over $6000 for Dementia North, at a gorgeous evening of food and w**e at Deloitte New Zealand . Fantastic MCing from Nathan King who kept the whole night rolling.

Dementia touches so many of us, in one way or another we’ve all felt it close to home. To see my art play a part in supporting the people and families living with it is exactly why I do this.
