The other day I caught up with a friend I hadn’t seen for a while. As we were updating each other and I was talking about the work we’re doing with the Auckland Youth Tri Academy, I found myself smiling.

“Why are you putting so much time into this?” they asked.

For me, the Academy isn’t just about creating faster triathletes.

It’s about helping a community that has given so much to me continue to grow. It’s about helping juniors fall in love with triathlon. It’s about creating opportunities for young athletes to learn, develop confidence, and discover what they’re capable of.

It’s also about introducing athletes to friendships beyond their schools—friendships that can last a lifetime.

What I have learned since getting involved is that juniors just want to race. There is no point training without racing and giving them more opportunities is what’s needed, thus the which doesn’t actually create any more work and supports the existing event community.

If we get this right, we’ll do more than develop athletes. We’ll strengthen our triathlon community for years to come.

What I’ve been working on lately is the biggest EVER opportunity for junior triathletes in Auckland with the

ENTRIES ARE OPEN with the first of the weekly sessions through Term 2 on the 18th April. There is also the April Holiday Camp on the mornings of 10th and 11th.

Entry is starting from $10 per session or $75 for the term

Development training with accredited Coaches .mcalister for 9-13 year olds + novice and for 14-19 year olds

So awesome to see and collaborating to make this happen🫶

Great to be working with Club President’s .dodi and to help make this happen.
