Need convincing that photography is storytelling? 📸

A trip to the beach for maternity photos will forever be a memory of pure happiness for this growing family. We found shells, ran from waves, saw wild Japanese deer and waved to a high-flying friend!

Kids [and therefor parents] smile more when a photoshoot feels like a fun adventure - not an uncomfortable dress-up day 🥹

Can't wait for more summer fun!!

Plum blossom magic 🩷🌸

SO glad I offered plum blossom minis this year! I didn't have enough cherry blossom experience last year to understand the blooming cycles - but I made it a goal to set aside time this season for the gooooorgeous pink blooms.

Hot take?? ...I like the pink better than the traditional sakura's white flowers 🫣

PS - Congrats to all the Edgren seniors, including the sweet duo I captured beneath the plum blossoms at the turf bleachers (perfect, right!?)

When you get to baby number three, the newborn photoshoot looks different. It's no longer about the perfect pose...

It's about the not-so teeny hands of your bigger babies trying to shove a dandelion 🌼 into the flaky fingers of their new sibling, the one that finally completes the family...or not! 😉

It's about playground candids, because the needs of a fresh babe are so overwhelmingly different from a toddler. (Although, did you know that on average, parents don't return to regular full, uninterrupted sleep until about 6yrs after the birth of a child? 😴🫩)

It's about capturing life 'as-is,' because the authenticity of the memories is worth its weight in gold 💛

The wind hit us HARD this year, but there was still so much beauty in the fading sakura 🌸😍

My days 3-5 cherry blossom sessions were a special kind of pretty with petals falling like snow and giving us nature's confetti for play!

I know I keep saying it, but seriously - a huge THANK YOU to all of my clients who were so amazingly flexible on their availability with the weather issues this year. Between rescheduling and relocating... phew 😮‍💨 Good news is that it was all worth it! I could have shared so many more beautiful photos from these sessions.

My pre-photoshoot questionnaire that I ask all clients fill out includes the question: "Who will be on camera? Names and ages, please!"

Nothing makes me more excited than when that answer includes pets! And these two furbabes in particular were so fun to integrate into the at-home newborn session.

Also, peep all those adorable tiny details - from the fun NBC 💀 nursery theme to the tiny toes!

A little ‘behind the lens’ 📸 news to share…

After many years of hard work -juggling the military, family and school- my husband just completed his bachelor’s degree. We are SO proud!

Many of you know that I limit my weekend session availability to just one day so that my husband also gets a full day to focus on homework and/or we get family time. It’s been our little system that’s worked well.

With him finishing his degree, I am looking forward to so much more family time on the weekends. I’m also hoping we can *finally* travel around Japan (further than Sendai and Hirosaki lol) before we PCS next spring.

To help achieve this, I will be offering a 10% incentive discount to ALL weekday 30min and 1hr sessions moving forward (doesn’t apply to package deals or marathon sessions where I have multiple clients back-to-back).

We are so excited to really enjoy and capitalize on our remaining time in this beautiful country now that this exciting milestone has been achieved!

As always, thank you for your continued support and trusting in me to capture precious memories. You are supporting our little family’s dreams more than you know!!

Graduation season for some, a new school year for others! 🍎✏🌈

I've had several parents reach out and ask if I can do school portraits. The answer is always YES! Some of you have asked for pre-k and kinder grad portraits (school year ends in June). 🎓

Others have asked for yochien (school year just started in April) uniform portraits. Funny how different the two country's school systems operate! 🇯🇵🇺🇸

The first few days of sakura photos have landed in inboxes and they're all soooo dreamy 🥺🌸

From cloudy morning skies that made way for rain to shimmery afternoon sun, you can't go wrong when the flowers are out in full bloom. It was a beautiful kickoff weekend of sakura!

Days 3-5 (Thurs-Sat) will be on their way soon ! Thank you again for your patience 🙏

That’s a wrap! 🌸

I am officially D O N E with this year’s cherry blossom sessions. Today was my last day with the gorgeous pink plum blossoms 🩷

Thank you so much to all of my amazing clients who came out to capture the magic - despite strong winds, cold rain and scheduling madness. I do think this year was particularly brutal for wacky weather 😵‍💫 It was certainly a memorable season!

As it stands, this was my final cherry blossom season in Japan due to our PCS *sometime* in April 2027. I just can’t say concretely that I’ll be here next year to sneak in one more round.

As a reminder, all 2026 cherry blossoms sessions currently have a 3 to 4 week turnaround. A huge thank you for your patience as I cull and edit so many beautiful photos!

Although… tomorrow will be an “off” day for me, as it should be for all mommies!! Happy early Mother’s Day to my fellow mamas 💞💐

🎏 KODOMO NO HI 🇯🇵

Happy Children's Day in Japan (May 5th)!

I had an absolute blast capturing so many adorable kiddos with these special sessions. We saw lots of precious jinbeis and a few dazzling kimonos for the older girls, which paired perfectly with the traditional koinobori (koi fish) theme! 🪭🌸

I hope to offer these one last time in lateFeb/early April of next year before we PCS. This was such a great way to allow parents to commemorate their kids' time in Japan.
