This summer has been busier than I expected... Feels like I have barely posted lately!

Usually July and August slow down with the heat (I don't blame anyone for avoiding photos when it's hot 🥵) - but there's been so many expecting families, babies born and just general requests for memories captured. Between two littles in the house during yochien break and running around with my camera, I'm staying plenty busy!

ANYWHO! I totally forgot to show off one of my personal favorite memories of this year so far: Baby Sakura on the way ➡ she's arrived 🍼🩷🌸

You know it's summer when the beachy sessions start stacking. And I recently had three sandy *maternities* in less than a week 🤯

The Tanesashi Coast never disappoints for a stunning bump backdrop, no matter the weather!

This cute daybed makes studio sessions with babies and toddlers easy peasy - especially when you've got FIVE adorable young ones 😎

May I also remind you that my studio has A/C (and heat), so if you're looking to escape the summer meltdown, it's a great option for photos of any kind!

I wouldn't normally describe my photography style as 'moody,' but on this day the Misawa sea fog choose for us!

It might not have been a beautifully sunny beach day... but honestly, THIS is the Misawa we all know. So what better way for this family to say sayonara to their Japan chapter?

PS I must have wiped my lens 6,000x that morning 😅

My favorite Japanese summer event in Misawa is coming up at the end of the month: Tanabata!

It runs July 24-26 this year and is sooo much fun. Three full days of street food, mini games, music, performances, beautiful cultural displays and more! People are encouraged to wear jinbei and yukata (summer kimono).

Last year I followed a family who had visiting relatives in town, acting as their personal 'paparazzi' for the festivities. It was awesome!

PS - the Misawa City Festival is also a great time and runs Aug. 20-23. This one has massive floats and does nighttime parades... not to be confused with the Aomori Nebuta Festival, which is Aug. 2-7! So many summer events!!
