๐ Chaine Memorial Tower, Larne, Northern Ireland
Standing proudly at the entrance to Larne Lough, the Chaine Memorial Tower, affectionately known as "The Pencil" is one of Northern Ireland's most iconic coastal landmarks.
Built during the late nineteenth century in memory of James Chaine, the tower honours the businessman and politician whose vision helped transform Larne into an important ferry port connecting Northern Ireland and Scotland. Designed in the style of a traditional Irish round tower. It later became a lighthouse and continues to watch over vessels entering Larne Harbour.
Its striking silhouette against the sea has made it a favourite subject for photographers, especially during sunrise, sunset and long-exposure conditions.
Captured in black and white, the tower's timeless character and enduring presence are even more apparent.
