I will try to post about my hobby and document my (hopefully) progress on it. So you can expect to find in here some DSO photos, maybe some planetary shoots in the future as well. I will try to share with my passion so if you are thinking to jump into - you should just start! Actually the true is that I have started in May 2019 with Nikon P900 camera thanks to Jayling from Ohio.
I wouldn't call it real astrophotography yet, but first try-ons lets say. I have found her channel accidentally on YT (she is great and full of passion btw, cheers!). I couldn't believe it is possible to capture Saturn rings only with digital camera! Those days I have took very bad quality photos of Saturn and Jupiter with it's moons (I have posted it). I have used 20 Euro worth tripod so you can imagine how difficult it was to maintain focus and stability on 83x zoom. But this picture of Saturn impressed me really, really a lot. Probably every amateur astrophotographer remember this moment when he has captured his firs astrophoto. Then year after (September 2020) I have made another attempt on Saturn. This time I have recorded .avi and stacked it (PIPP, RegiStax and AutoStakker, my first astrophotography tools, dedicated for planetary imaging) so picture was slightly better but I have realised that I can't go much further on it. In the meantime I have used my camera mostly to take photos on vacations or capture some shoots of the Moon. In the middle of 2020 I have found AstroBiscuit channel on YT. He is rly a great, creative guy, full of passion. Now I am following probably most of astrophotography related channels on YT but still AstroBiscuit is my favorite one, even if he is not posting vids so frequently but this is understandable because of weather in UK and especially when you live in London. So cheers Rory, maybe one day you will read this - so thanks as because of your vids I have decided to set up my first rig. And I have absolutely no regrets even if I have spent twice that I have planned but this is probably something typical in this hobby ;)
So in September 2020 I have started my research what should I buy and finally in the end of November 2020 my rig was completed! It is SW EvoStar 80ED + 0.85 FF/R + SW HEQ5 Pro + Canon 6D + Stock 9x50 finder with ZWO ASI 120MM-S USB 3.0 (mono) as guidecam. Software that I am using is SharpCap (PA) + Stellarium (GoTo, FOV) + APT (camera control, plate solving) + PHD2 + APP + Photoshop CC.
