When I was 16, a bouncer at the Savoy in Cork let me and a friend from school sneak into a Frames gig that was part of the For the Birds tour. Their music meant a huge amount to me as a teenager, and years later, as a photographer, I tried to cover their shows whenever I got the chance, and always made sure to at least say hi when crossing paths in Whelan's or at a festival.

Like so many others, I'm shocked and saddened by Glen Hansard's sudden passing. One of the greatest songwriter, performer and storytellers of our generation.

My thoughts are with Máire, Christy, Glen's family and friends, and his bandmates in The Frames.
