It's been sort of a Woodpecker sort of day,out in the East Riding. The highlight of the day for me is the Lesser Spotted Woodpecker, a first for me, and to discover just how tiny they are! Wonderful to see a nearly fledged youngster. The great Spotted Woodpecker are still feeding at least one in the nest, but yesterday some of the brood did fledge . The Tawny Owlet is still in the same place as yesterday too , but Mum is only a short distance away. If you ever see Owlets seemingly alone, please leave them be as Mum and Dad won't be far away. The ever-present Red Kite high overhead, and a social Robin joined me for a coffee. The Barn Owls are out in daylight, a sign they have mouths to feed. Met some truly lovely folks today, fellow birders are always a big tick in my book.
