A walk around Cannock Chase Forest last Sunday 🍃

A quick Saturday afternoon walk last weekend around Mill Green and Hawks Green Valley Local Nature Reserve 🍃

Saw a few bits of wildlife, including a female Eurasian blackcap and a couple of red deer hinds (didn’t get a photo unfortunately🥲).

The main highlight was this active great spotted woodpecker nest! I captured a little video where you can hear the chicks inside the tree🥹 - Volume up!!🔊

Quite a variety of species tbh, ranging from red deer and European rabbits to orange-tip butterflies and common blue damselflies 🦌🦋

I don’t really use this account much anymore, but I want to start posting on here again and use it a bit differently.

Since finishing my degree, I’ve been trying to get out on more walks to practice species identification because I’d love to get into the ecology field.

Instead of only posting my “best” photos, I’m going to start sharing more from my walks — wildlife I see, species IDs, scenery, and just interesting things I come across. Mainly as a little diary for myself too 📔

Anyway, this was from last Thursday’s walk at Park Lime Pits Local Nature Reserve. Saw quite a bit of wildlife and heard a few blackcaps, song thrushes, and barn swallows overhead 🌱🐦

Still learning species ID, so if any IDs are wrong feel free to let me know 😊
