Another glorious sunny day, and another woodland photo walk on the schedule today! ☀️🌲✨

I'm heading out shortly to meet up with a wonderful mother and her two daughters for a family session in the woods. Days like today—with bright sunshine filtering through the trees—make for absolute magic on camera. 📸🌿

Looking forward to capturing some beautiful, natural moments together. Wish us luck with the light, and keep an eye out for previews coming soon! 💻🎨

Another fantastic day out in the woods! 🌲✨ Had such a great time capturing Lesley and her gorgeous fur babies—there’s nothing quite like outdoor dog photography to keep you on your toes! 🐕📸

People often see the shoot itself, but the magic doesn't end when the camera turns off. Photography is so much more than just clicking a button on location. For every 2 to 8 hours spent out at a shoot or event, there’s another 2 to 6 hours hidden behind the scenes doing selection, color grading, and careful editing.

It’s easily overlooked, but bringing out those rich woodland tones and making every portrait pop is half the fun! 🎨💻

Can’t wait to share the final gallery with you, Lesley!

A few highlights from Katie's woodland portrait session! 🌿🍂 There’s nothing quite like natural light through the trees.

I'm already looking forward to another woodland photoshoot coming up—only this different client is going to have her two fur babies with her this time! 🐾 Can't wait.

Happy birthday to this senior boy! 🐾

It was my joy and pleasure when my wife asked if I would take my camera to the woods and capture a couple of pictures of our dog ahead of his birthday. 📸

He turns 14 today. I’ve been with my wife for 12 years, and she has had Byron since he was 8 weeks old, so he has been a part of her life longer than I have so it felt like a privilege for her to ask me to capture some moments to celebrate his 14th birthday. ❤️

Pets are a huge part of a family and having photos like this means that their beautiful loving faces stay with us for many years to come! ✨

If you’d like to book an on location photoshoot with your doggie best friend(s) please send me a message to book! 🐶

Had such a brilliant autumn woodland session with young Katie at Southborough Common!
Thankfully, the weather was completely on our side yesterday—unlike all this rain we've been getting! 🌧️☀️

Bringing off-camera studio lighting into the woods means we can balance the canopy shadows and get crisp, vibrant portraits every single time—even if I have to climb up on a fallen tree trunk to get the angle! 🌲⚡

Huge thanks to Katie’s mum for capturing the behind-the-scenes magic in action! 📷

More photos from this gorgeous session coming soon! ✨

New place to edit today! 💻✨

After yesterday's Christmas photoshoot in the front room—using our Kate backdrop, snow sheet, sledge, bench, and lanterns with the Godox lighting setup—I'm straight back to work busy editing today while at my daughter's panto rehearsals! 🎭📸

Never a dull moment balancing the business.

The countdown to Christmas is officially ON at Shilling Snaps Photography! 🎄📸✨

Who says you need a permanent commercial space to create magic? We set up right in the front room today using a stunning Kate backdrop, paired with a snow sheet, sledge, wooden bench, and lanterns to build this year’s Christmas Mini-Session set! Complete with a full professional Godox multi-light setup. ❄️🕯️

I brought along a few of my favourite models to get the lighting dialed in, and the initial test shots are incredible. It just goes to show what can be achieved with a mobile studio setup right at home.

Properly excited to put some fresh kit to work! 📸✨

I cannot wait to try out these new Godox SK300II-V studio lights and the Godox AD200Pro II battery light. 💡📦

Having portable power like the AD200Pro II is going to be an absolute game-changer for outdoor sessions—especially for woodland photoshoots around Kent, where dialing in that beautiful off-camera lighting amongst the trees makes all the difference. 🌲🍂

Who would be up for a woodland photoshoot soon? Drop a comment or send a DM if you fancy booking in! 👇
