A recent commission that was a little more personal than most.

I was asked by a family to photograph this particular view from the air, on a date that held special significance for them. The brief was to take in the sweep of the bay, with Old Harry Rocks and the Isle of Wight beyond, and fortunately the sunrise gave me some beautiful soft light and colour to work with.

The finished photograph was then produced in my studio as a large three-panel canvas triptych.

It’s always satisfying seeing an image make the journey from camera to finished piece, but particularly so when the place and photograph have a real meaning for the people it’s being made for.

A lovely commission to be trusted with.

Hi , I'm gradually sifting through my images from Southwest Scotland while sat here at my open studio event in the stifling heat. How is it that this was only just over a week ago and a few hundred miles away and I was wearing a down jacket?

How could I possible resist an opportunity to photograph a castle in the mist while I was in Scotland last week?

I'm just back from Southwest Scotland and didn't get around to sharing anything while I was away, so here is a quick edit from a gorgeous misty morning early in the week.

The Wellington Tower in Swanage captured during a brief aurora that we had in the UK in January.
I never imagined witnessing aurora this far south when I first started going to Scandinavia chasing the northern lights well over a decade ago but have had the opportunity to do so quite a few times in the last couple of years.
