A Series Complete...

My little collection of the A series cameras. I haven't got a favourite yet and 3 of them I am yet to shoot with...I can't wait!! I adore the AV-1 what a great little camera to shoot with, the AE-1 & A-1 have been my carry around camera's really great with the handy auto settings. Leaving the AT-1, AL-1 and the AE-1 Program to run a few reels through.

I knew this would happen, they have multiplied over the weekend!

The Canon A1 series, in production from 1976 -1989, Canon produced over 11 million units across there factories, not to mention lenses, flashes and filters etc. This is my little family of the complete series, all carefully restored and all continuing to take beautiful photographs just like they did all those years ago...photographer is still learning btw...🤣

I'm not much of a scenery photographer, but Amsterdam stole my attention with its architecture. Shooting with my Canon A1 and Kodak Gold 200, through my 50mm f1.4 FD lens was a slightly magical experience. Film really focuses your attention in the view finder, no instant look up, you just have to be confident and press the shutter button. Even if you do get a vehicle roof in your shot! it just happens that way!

Shot on 35mm Kentmere 400, with my Canon A1. Learning a few film lessons, film grain...using ASA400 outside, the in camera light meter...I could have given the exposure compensation button a press to expose the subject a little better...too late now, £12 splashed out on developing the film. But honestly love shooting film, really enjoying the challenge.

My obsession with film...if you keep them in the same bag and leave them in a cool place overnight they breed...Thats what I tell my good lady. These are four of the Canon A Series from the 1970s-80s, the first cameras to offer semi auto and full auto modes. Canon sold millions of these and I'm still looking for a couple more to satisfy my OCD.

Images from our French style fashion theme. The weather held off and we got some great shots in a lovely Georgian style area of Newcastle Upon Tyne. We had some lovely blossom going on and some moody skies to capture. Très agréable pour cette période de l'année...

The love of film, years ago before the digital era, film was our media...much cheaper back then to! There's a certain feel to film that I don't think can be replaced. I love the challenge and the skill test of shooting film camera's, it really makes you think about what you are doing in that moment. What is in that frame and only the most basic of light meters to guide you...if you have the right film loaded and you know what to expect...ish if you press that shutter. It's around £20 to develop a roll with scans & prints these days, prices vary of course. Film effects along with your exposure and your skill set! its a nice journey and I'm loving it!
