It’s another update on Instagram and I feel like this new feature might just be… a little useless 👀

Instagram rolled out another update recently and if you’ve noticed in your DM’s a stack of images off to the side, then this is Instants.

Basically a way for you to take “in the moment, on the go, not from the camera roll, quick unedited unplanned snaps” for friends to view on a “one-time-only-view” and they expire just like stories in 24hours.

You can also download the app for Instants but I’m going to be completely transparent… I just think it’s a little pointless.

For personal accounts though it’s a WIN! Messy, authentic snaps without the pressure to post it publicly but for businesses……

Will it help with reach? no not really
Will it help get you discovered? Nope
Will it bring in new customers? Unlikely
Will it grow your audience? No

Could it help with community building? Maybe, but if you’re already using stories then it’s probably going to achieve the same thing.

If you’re fed up with the stack of images being there in the DM’s and just want to remove it for a while then YOU CAN! 👌🏼
I show you in this reel how to switch them off and if you fancy seeing them again you can just toggle it back on.

I do genuinely want to know your opinions though, are you using instants? Will you use it long term? Is it part of your community building strategy?

For now though, I’ve switched instants off. 🤳
I’ll be using stories speak to followers instead.

Not every creative idea is a banger! 😌 I filmed this quick test clip to check the angle and visual look before getting my client to repeat it… and within all of 2 seconds I knew this idea was getting SCRAPPED 👉🏼🗑️

The angle: Unflattering
The positioning: Busy high street
RED FLAG: unsuspecting pedestrians going about their day and then becoming background actors and side eyeballing the phone on the floor 😂👀

This is exactly why experimenting with different angles and positioning matters because even when you create content not every idea works out the way you imagined in your head.

Sometimes the super cool creative idea ends up looking like a complete mess or not on brand 🎥

Test ideas, play around, experiment and scrap the bad ones, move onto the next. 👏

Content shoots with me should never feel like a Netflix casting call 🎥😌 they’re relaxed and we work to your comfort level.

The second the tripod goes up you know I’ve already planned the transitions, assigned the roles, found the best lighting and deciding if you’ll be full shot, mid shot, long shot, close up or none of these and it’s just the voiceover for a video. 🤗

One minute you’re nervous and the next you’re fully committed to the filming, the storyline and asking to “just do one more take” 😂 I love doing more than one take or even a few trial runs.

My favourite part of shoot days is watching people go from “No I’m not being on camera today” to asking if they could be on the video… then absolutely nailing it by the end. 👌🏼

What’s in your bag? 💼 EVERYONE always asks what’s in my content shoot bag… I’m about to reveal all 👀

Sometimes it’s full of props, sometimes it’s just the essentials… but most of the time it’s an exact mix of “makes sense” and “why do I even have this?” Because recently I found mini plastic hands and I no idea how and when they got in there 🙌😂

When I first started creating content for businesses, I noticed all the little things that make a difference on a shoot. They might seem small… but they always have a purpose.

DON’T GET ME STARTED on the amount of times I’ve pulled out the cellotape… it’s basically the OG in this bag because when I started it doubled up as a tripod or a way to strap my phone to a makeshift mount 😌 problem solver added to my CV thanks to cello tape.

Then there’s my ring light, yes, he has a name.
This is Ray 💡
because obviously… he’s a ray of light 😂
And my gimbal? He’s called “Bad Boi”… because he is.

This bag has been everywhere with me, shoots, last minute spontaneous filming, creating ideas, adding to chaotic setups and somehow it’s still going strong.

I literally never leave the house without it… because you just never know what a shoot might need 🎥

So now you know… what’s in the bag 👀

Call on the one who makes content feel a lot less serious and a lot more fun 🎥☺️ from content shoots with plenty of laughs, brainstorming ideas that actually fit your business and actually makes posting feel easier… that’s where I come in.

Because you don’t always need a big marketing agency with big budgets and no real feel for your area 👀

Sometimes you just need someone local…
someone who understands your business, your community, and the people you’re trying to reach 💁🏼‍♀️

Someone who gets the little details, the places, the people, the vibe and knows how to turn that into content that connects.

So if you’re based in or around Rutland and want social media to feel a bit more you… I’m right here when you need me 👏

You may have already seen my work without even knowing because I work with some wonderful people and businesses in:

Buying local to celebrate ONE WHOLE YEAR with a client today… 👀 A big milestone for Social Media with Zoe. 🎉 When I started my business, I had one very clear vision. I wanted to work with local businesses who genuinely care about their customers, their community, and the experience they create for people walking through their doors.

My client is exactly that! everytime I visit for a content shoot, it never feels like ‘work’ they’re wholesome, kind and they put so much love into everything they do and go above and beyond for their customers. They’re the kind of business that truly deserves to be shouted about online.

To celebrate this milestone I ordered and picked up these beautiful cupcakes and the giant cookie from the lovely ladies at Conni’s in Melton Mowbray. 💁🏼‍♀️💕 If you haven’t been yet, you need to visit.
It’s a dreamy pink, very Instagrammable shop with delicious food and drinks.

Moments like this remind me why I started Social Media with Zoe in the first place. Helping local businesses who work so hard to actually grow their visibility online and be discoverable 😇

I’m incredibly grateful to work with clients who bring so much joy to the content creation process and trust me to manage their social media. 👏

I’ve been on diet journey… so having these sweet treats in transit today was such a temptation but instead I’ll be doing the usual Zoe thing… having a little happy dance 🥳

Turns out… I’ve always made this face and hand gesture 🤌 when something is just right. 😅

Adult me still does it… usually mid content shoot when the lighting hits, the transition works smoothly or when I get a message from my client to say they’ve booked someone from their post 👏

This type of content is trending massively right now and everyone is sharing the people behind their business with baby photos and their job roles. Jump on it this week with a carousel or reel and have some fun with this one ☺️

So this one is my take on the trend.
I’m super passionate about capturing the essence of your business and getting ridiculously excited when an idea works. Sometimes I do it quietly behind the camera whilst your talking and I’m capturing the content and I’ll use the exact same “YES THAT’S IT… PERFECTION!” face and hand gesture 😂

So if you ever see me pulling that “perfection” move on your content shoot… just know your content is about to be VERY good. 😌
