Taking a boat trip with a couple of weeks ago and not expecting to see any more puffins, especially being so late in the season but never the less, with its frantic wing beat and low flight I managed to spot and snap this fella fishing and flying back to shore.

Couldn't make it out in person but it just looked like one from its behaviour, so I snapped away and on the back of the camera with a bit of zoom, bang, a puffin! It's 100% on the list next year to make a special trip to capture them breeding and in their habitat on the island so I can't wait for that! Still, quite special to spot and capture so late on in the season after 95% have fledged.

Photographed on a moving boat at the full 500mm end of the lens and a speeding bird, it was a challenge to say the least.

It would have been rude not to, right!?

Over on Holy Island during the summer break in Northumberland the tidal times meant that we were there for the recent solar eclipse. So, unique circumstances, unique lighting with a regular composition, why not!

What do you think? Let me know in the comments.

I've been away for a few weeks and some time off with the family, which has been bliss and I hope everyone has had a special summer.

Here's a couple of recent evening shots of a barn owl, waiting, watching and taking flight. From the quiet corners of the barn to the open sky , the breathtaking grace of the barn owl.

Happy Friday people.

Not the sharpest image, not the cleanest image, but a special moment none the less. First encounter with a dipper that was foraging for food and then swimming across the river in front of me.

Not every shot is going to be perfect, in the moment trying to witness it happen and to capture it too but every shot tells a story!

After my mate spotted the dipper, and whilst trying to get in a position to photograph the dipper, a kingfisher flew directly at me, up and over and down river. To say I was caught off guard would be an understatement! Striving for perfection and images that'll win prizes is great but switching off and being out in nature is the real prize.

A juvenile Kingfisher, getting its bearings in the local stream, Lyme Brook. This little fella just sat for 20 minutes, sheltering from the hot weather a week or so ago and outstayed me. Watching and listening to it's parent hunting.

Trickiest thing I've shot yet, shooting through so much foliage with gusty, windy conditions but I couldn't pass up the opportunity.

Let me know if you've had the privilege of seeing a local kingfisher! Amazing what's on your door step.

I wasn't expecting any wildlife sightings, but that's probably my lack of knowledge, so I was pleasantly surprised to see this little Northern Wheatear whilst having a break at the top of the Glyders!

One of the songbirds with the longest winter migration, every single year spending their winters in Sub-Saharan Africa.....who knew! Incredible to think really, and quite frankly I was blowing out of my backside just climbing to the top of the Glyders.

'Wounded Hunter'

Easily my favourite wildlife images to date that I've taken!

It's because of a mix of things but the natural mood 10 minutes after sunset, pushing the camera to its absolute limits, putting the time into finding the locations in the first place, finding the barn owl on the night which didn't seem like it was going to happen and then having the chance to be in its presence whilst hunting after a days photography all just added to the experience.

Let me know your favourite shot in the comments!

Something a little more environmental and in its natural habitat. The grey heron, sometimes I feel an underated bird and seen as just another Heron.

With an average lifespan of 5 years, the Heron is the king for the rivers. Silently hunting and flying up to speeds of 30mph it's an impressive fisherman!

Finding a new perspective in the heart of Eryri ⛰️

A few weeks ago, I spent the day with my best mate scrambling and hiking Tryfan and the Glyders l, standing on the edge of Ogwen Valley. Bit of local wildlife and some epic views to boot 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

Which shot is your favourite, let me know!
