Another great afternoon of music at C A R M E N Bar today for their “Acoustic Chill”
Having a stand in host / mc for the day by the amazing KATIE RIGBY taking over from G A R Y Q U I N N ☘️
Katie is always worth seeing when you get a chance so she was well received and started the afternoon off getting everyone settled in and listening intently, it’s becoming routine now that everyone is there for the music and to show respect when the artists are on and it’s so good to see !
So yeah we got to see a nice range of her older songs and then one or two brand new songs as well

Then we had up with a mix of kinda folky rockabilly Americana sounds with some great guitar playing, songs about girls , some heartfelt songs and even a murder ballad mixed in for good measure (and also a kickass classic haircut) with something a bit different to break things up between the girls sets

Then it was the turn of Louise Connor to close out the night out in style after playing Carmens earlier in the year and showing why she’s a regular face all over the uk’s venues with amazing songs and such a soulful voice again keeping everyone listening right the way through her set

So if this sounds like your type of night don’t miss out on the country at carmen event a week on Tuesday (20th October)

Throwing it back to last week where got to see Stuart Landon O'Hanlon and his Brother Danny supporting Matt Woods in Nottingham last week

I’ve known Stu for a good few years and always a pleasure to get to see him play as he’s such an underrated artist
Bringing a rawness to things, great songs and able to transcend genres
From prob over ten years ago with Angels With Dirty Faces to his solo stuff he just kills it , if only he wasn’t 2 1/2 hours away

And was also great to finally get to the Wagon and Horses a traditional locals pub (but don’t let that put you off as they were so friendly and welcoming) supporting grass roots gigs and making a scene for people to be able to do their thing

So I may have done a thing
To most of you on here it won’t mean anything
But decided to bite the bullet with wanting to do some more video stuff alongside photos
So a new member to add to the family
I have thought about this for so long but finally have an FX3
Seeing that most of the stuff I do is is gig stuff so super low light and darker or crazy lighting ,having a dedicated low light beast should help haha

Maybe it’s a fool and his money being easily parted maybe all the gear no idea haha and I know it’s not always about the kit but definitely think that having stuff that performs definitely helps

But here’s to seeing what can be learned and possible a million questions and headaches trying to learn video editing

Some times you just need to go head first in to it right haha

Was great getting to catch up with Matt Woods again this week after meeting a year or two ago and then missing him on his last tour
A great story teller singing songs about Eastern Tennessee, small towns and relationships amongst other things
But perfectly brings it all together as a great story teller

Reminding me a lot of Chris Knight, I think it’s just the way they can bring a song and a story to life and make it like a film in your head rather than just some words being sung

His last date in the uk today in Poole before heading over for some gigs in Spain before heading back to Tennessee and Nashville

Give him a follow tho so you don’t miss out on when he’s back cause definitely deserves to keep growing on this side of the pond as he’s also one of the nicest people you will meet and could talk with him for hours

K A T Y H U R T is heading out this week starting her Tour , Beginning Tomorrow (Thursday) at The Greystones in Sheffield then Future Yard in Birkenhead on Friday

Then taking in London on the 29th, Bath on the 30th
Before Cheltenham on the 5th then Newport on the 6th

She is joined on these date by Two Ways Home to form the
“BETTER TOGETHER TOUR”
So this looks to be one that’s not to be missed
Make sure you check it out

But the images are a throwback to FarmTrax Country Music Festival where Katy and ＧＡＢＺＳＡＰＫＡ killed it bringing a stripped back performance with great vocals , harmonies around a couple of acoustic guitars

Friday night The Long Road Headliners The Shires brought the party Ben Earle and Crissie - The Shires bringing their trademark blend of country soaring harmonies and Nashville-inspired songwriting to the stage.
One of the acts that helped put British country firmly on the map and still continue to evolve their sound while keeping the heart and storytelling that made them so popular.

With their latest album Bonfire adding a fresh, upbeat festival feel, they’re showing exactly why they remain such a standout duo in the UK country scene

And coming with some extra congratulations to Ben after taking over the Radio 2 Country Show from Bob Harris

Another throwback to FarmTrax Country Music Festival this time from Rhys Rowlands bringing the party vibes as well as the classics, the first time seeing them but well received and had everyone singing along and dancing and even had the “Revival” breakdown getting the crowd low then going mental

I think Farmtrax was one of the best weekends of the summer and can’t wait to see what they do for next year and the whole vibe of being set on the site of Farmer Copleys they just know how to do things right !
And if you haven’t seen the farm shop it’s something else !!

Some videos from Cheley Tackett headlining the Country at Carmens night on Tuesday another great night of music and we have definitely been blessed this last few months with all the artist that we have had at C A R M E N Bar (and still plenty more to come before the years out ! )

But another great Nashville songwriter doing her thing , bringing some country and Americana songs our way and getting to here the stories behind some of them

If you haven’t seen Cheley yet you need to , she’s still got a few dates of her uk tour left yet playing
Tonight in Newport The Phyllis Maud Performance Space
Tomorrow at Forty Five Vinyl Cafe in York
Sunday at H***y Tonk Collective Ltd in Poole

So go check her out if you can !!

Some videos from last night at C A R M E N Bar where we had Porter Martin 𝖇𝖗𝖔𝖓𝖓𝖎𝖊 𝖍𝖚𝖌𝖍𝖊𝖘 Mason Levi starting of the night I think for the first time with a Nashville style writers round providing a cool selection of different styles with a bit of something for everyone before the headline set from Cheley Tackett

Amazing to be able to get some shots of Steve Earle at The Long Road
I think the first time I came across Steve and his music must have been around 1996 and getting to hear “Copperhead Road” and the linedance that went with it
So getting to see him play live 30 years later was awesome
And got to say that’s one think I like about longroad is having that kinda Legacy artist

Born in Virginia but cut his teeth as a songwriter in Nashville
First releasing his debut album in 1986 and releasing 21 albums since and having his songs recorded by some of the biggest names known inc Johnny Cash , Waylon Jennings, Travis Tritt and Willie Nelson

Getting 3 Grammys and being inducted into the Nashville songwriters hall of fame in 2020 and then also became a member of the Grand ole Opry last year in 2025

And even the rain of the Friday couldn’t put a dampener on things , and even added to getting some cool shots and a load of light flares (although I don’t recommend this 🤣)

But yeah amazing to get to get to get some shots of a legend doing what he does !
