WORK FROM HOME

Coming home from Devon with his knowledge, Ben then sheared all of our ewes at home at the weekend

Two days of sweat for Ben saw all of our ewes now out in their new fields happily grazing and safe from any fly strike until we get some fly cover on them

Massive thank you to our family who helped in all other aspects of the job, rolling wool, childcare and feeding and watering the pair of us, it really does take a village

CLOSE SHAVE

Last week we headed up to Devon to a two day shearing course with

Day one was learning the pattern of shearing the sheep which is essentially footwork and balance of the ewe, making the job quicker and the ewe happy whilst she is sheared. Ben had an accident the week before involving falling out the tractor so his ankle was giving him some grief but he managed until lunchtime and I had a go after 🥵

Day two was incredible and Ben was much more comfortable shearing the pattern and even came away with his blue certificate

We have both said how much more respect we have for the shearers in the industry and that everyone who has sheep should go on one of these courses to understand how hard these shearers work. We have also decided once we increase we will get the pros in 😂

Incredibly proud of Ben for getting out of his comfort zone (and into the zone of the sheep!) and adding another skill to his long list of existing ones! ❤️

CLASS OF 2026 💪

Mega proud of how these lambs are growing even in this insane heat (for the UK)

Lambs will stay on the herbal ley using a grazing rotation to maximise potential and reduce any potential parasite build up on pasture

WEANING DAY

Earlier this week our lambs came in to be separated from the ewes. Our lambs are now of an age where they no longer require their mums for milk and their digestive systems have developed for them to eat grass supported with creep feed

Lambs will now form their own flock on our herbal ley, getting sun on their backs growing growing growing ☀️

EWE ON THE MOVE 🐑

1st vaccine done for the lambs, protecting them from some nasty diseases and thanks to a perfect team, this went seamlessly

Twins have now all moved home and the singles will move to new grass in a couple of weeks

Lambs are growing well and enjoying the sun on their backs ☀️
