The Song of the True Bride — Series Description
A powerful African king sends a marriage request to a neighbouring kingdom. A bride is chosen for him, even though the king has never seen her face.
The young woman begins the long journey to her new home under the protection of a guardian woman and her beautiful daughter. But when thirst overtakes them near the river, the guardian offers the bride water in exchange for her precious jewellery—one drink for every piece.
By the time they reach the king’s village, the bride has lost more than her jewellery. Her identity has been stolen, the guardian’s daughter has taken her place, and the true bride is forced to live silently as a servant.
But the truth remains alive inside a sorrowful song.
When a trusted royal guard begins listening carefully to the woman who sings alone in the palace compound, he discovers that the king may have married the wrong bride.
The Song of the True Bride is a three-part African folktale drama about greed, betrayal, identity, courage and the truth that refuses to remain hidden.
A lie may wear royal clothing and sit beside a king—but one day, the truth will find its voice.
