Why today? I don’t usually post about me. In fact, it feels a little bit ick if I’m honest… but today is different.

Today, I’m feeling good about myself.

I’ve lost a bit of weight recently, and for me personally, that has helped me feel more confident in my own skin. And I want to be really clear here: this isn’t me saying you need to lose weight to do a bo***ir shoot. Absolutely not. Every body is welcome in my studio, exactly as it is.

What I’m saying is that I’ve reached a point in my life where, at 53, I’m genuinely happy with who I am. More comfortable. More confident. More willing to say “why not?”

Which is lucky really, because I’ve got an incredible shoot planned for September, and I cannot wait to share it with you. It’s pushing me outside my comfort zone a little, but I know it’s going to be empowering.

So here’s my message for today…

When you’re feeling good about yourself, do something wild. Do something a little bit crazy. Embrace that feeling. Because tomorrow you might not feel quite as brave.

And if you’ve been thinking about booking a bo***ir session, set the date. Once it’s in the diary, there’s no going back. You’ll have something exciting to work towards, something that’s just for you.

You don’t have to wait until you’re “ready.”

A little appreciation for the women spinning about 12 plates at once.

The ones juggling work, kids, partners, families and about a hundred tabs open in their brain at once.

The ones starting businesses from the kitchen table.
The ones working all day then doing the school run.
The ones answering emails at midnight.
The ones rebuilding after divorce, burnout, loss or a life that didn’t go to plan.

The women figuring it out as they go.

The ones learning to say no.
To take up space.
To back themselves a bit more than they used to.

The women quietly stepping into their own.

Not perfect.
Not polished.
Just getting on with it.

Midlife. Messy. Funny. Powerful.

I’m 52 and I’ve spent years photographing women weddings, bo***ir, moments both polished and intimate. Along the way, I’ve discovered something incredible: midlife is messy, funny, sensual, and full of power. It’s the stage where we stop performing and start existing fully, unapologetically, and sometimes hilariously.

I’m launching a year-long creative photography project exploring women 40+ in their own homes. This is about honesty, humour, presence, and sensuality capturing quiet strength, the absurdities of life, and the beauty of being exactly who you are.

Some women may want to share stories. Others may simply want to exist in front of the camera. Both matter.

The images will be shared on my social media and potentially in exhibitions, alongside reflections or quotes from the women photographed. Stories can be anonymous if preferred the choice is yours.
