I have been to The Spiritual Snug and obtained these gorgeous little trinkets! Oh My! You need to go! They have some fabulous wares!

I love stuff like this and it was an absolute pleasure to spend a little time there!
I can't wait to pay another visit!
Please do pop them a little follow, you won't regret it. ❤❤❤

You know when you start a project and think, "Oh, this won't take long..."? 🤣

Then you look at the map and realise you've accidentally assigned yourself a mission roughly equivalent to walking to Mordor. 😱

These are all the streets in Penrith:

🔵 Blue pins = photographed
🔴 Red pins = still to do

Apparently, when I said I wanted to photograph every street sign in Penrith, nobody thought to stage an intervention. 🤣

So, if you see a woman standing at the end of your street staring intently at a signpost with a camera 📷, don't worry—I'm not lost, I'm not plotting anything, and I'm definitely not assessing your property's resale value.

I'm just ticking another street off the list!

At this point, I'm expecting:
🏆 A fitness award
🚶‍♀️ Several new pairs of walking shoes
🎥 My own Ring Doorbell compilation on Facebook
👮 At least one "Can I help you?" from a concerned resident

Feel free to say hello if you see me out and about. Just don't ask how many streets I've got left... I'm trying very hard not to think about it. 🤣🤣🤣

📷 Street Signs of Penrith – Capturing Local History One Sign at a Time

Some people walk past them every day without a second glance. I see character, history, craftsmanship, and the stories of the streets that have shaped our town.

My ongoing Street Signs of Penrith photography project celebrates the unique street signs, lanes, courts, closes, and roads that make Penrith such a special place. From weathered wooden signs to traditional enamel street names, each photograph captures a small piece of Penrith's heritage and local identity.

Whether you're looking for your own street, a place filled with memories, or a unique gift for someone with a connection to Penrith, I may already have it in my collection. If not, I'm happy to take requests.

Success rarely arrives quietly.

Behind every achievement are countless unseen moments of effort, persistence, and resilience. Embrace the process—even when it feels messy.

What challenge are you pushing through right now?

The Millennium Stones, Keswick: The Lake District’s Most Puzzling Outdoor Coffee Table

If you've ever wandered along the shores of Derwentwater in Keswick and suddenly spotted a giant carved stone that looks suspiciously like it was designed by a team of highly caffeinated druids, congratulations—you've found the Millennium Stones.

📍 Located on the shores of Derwentwater, near Keswick in the Lake District National Park, the Millennium Stones are one of Cumbria's most unusual pieces of public art. And unlike most modern sculptures, they don't require an interpretive dance or a university degree to appreciate.

What Are the Millennium Stones?

Created to celebrate the year 2000, the Millennium Stones are a striking collection of carved boulders set against one of the most beautiful backdrops in England. The intricate circular carvings invite visitors to stop, stare, and inevitably say:

"I wonder what that means?"

The answer depends on who you ask. Art lovers see symbolism. Historians see heritage. Children see a giant stone biscuit.

Why Visit the Millennium Stones in Keswick?

Because where else can you find:

Stunning views across Derwentwater
Dramatic Lake District fells in every direction
Fascinating stone carvings
A perfect photography location
An excuse to spend 20 minutes pretending you're solving an ancient mystery

The stones are particularly photogenic on cloudy days when the moody Lake District skies add a touch of cinematic drama. In fact, if Hollywood ever makes Indiana Jones and the Extremely Pleasant Walk Around Keswick, this would be a prime filming location.

A Photographer's Dream

The Millennium Stones offer endless photographic opportunities.

Early morning brings calm reflections across Derwentwater. Autumn adds rich colours to the surrounding fells. Winter can transform the scene into something straight from a fantasy novel.

And if you're lucky enough to catch a dramatic sunset, you'll leave with photos that make your social media followers ask:

"Where is that?"

Followed immediately by:

"Why have I never been there?"

Things to Do Nearby

While visiting the Millennium Stones, you can also:

✅ Walk around Derwentwater

✅ Explore Keswick town centre

✅ Visit the famous Theatre by the Lake

✅ Take a boat trip across the lake

✅ Consume alarming quantities of tea and cake (a Lake District tradition)

The Verdict

The Millennium Stones are one of Keswick's hidden gems—part sculpture, part mystery, and part giant stone puzzle. Whether you're a photographer, walker, history enthusiast, or simply someone who enjoys staring thoughtfully at rocks, they're well worth adding to your Lake District itinerary.

Just don't be surprised if you spend ten minutes trying to decipher the carving before concluding that it probably says:

"You should have brought snacks."

🎣 One fly. A thousand memories.

For many dads, fishing isn't just a hobby—it's a tradition, an escape, and a chance to create lasting memories with family.

This Father's Day, tell me:

👇 What was the first fish you ever caught, and who was with you?

I'd love to hear your stories.

📸 Captured through my lens, inspired by the moments that matter most.

Random Saturday evening question for you!.

If money was no object what would you pay someone to do!
Would you have clean sheets every night, or maybe have someone cook your tea?

Me? I'd have someone source clothes that suit & fit me! Clothes shopping is such a pain especially when you don't like anything in the shops! 🙈🤣🤣
