When I spotted this photograph on the wall of a Lake District pub (name that pub in the comments!), it struck me that newborn photography really isn’t new! 📸
The little one, tucked into a basket labelled “NEW ARRIVAL”, got me wondering…
Who were they? Where did they grow up? Did they have children and grandchildren of their own? And does someone, somewhere, still have photographs of them?
In the early days of photography, exposure times could be so long that babies were wrapped up to help keep them still. Today, our cameras have moved on, but the desire to capture those tiny beginnings hasn’t changed.
Those newborn days pass in a blur. Little fingers, tiny toes, the way they curl up in your arms… before you know it, they’re gone.
And family photography is about so much more than a lovely picture. It’s about preserving your connection, your story, and the little moments you might otherwise forget.
