A wedding cake, but make it ART! 🎂✨

Yesterday was a dream getting to shoot another Modern Luxe Club | Wedding Workshops workshop at the insanely beautiful Gosford House

Lauren put so much thought, creativity and effort into bringing the day together (and we appreciate every bit of it!). Every single supplier was exceptional 🫶🏻

The whole day was a palette of elegance and colour. There was SO much happening that it was almost overwhelming (in the very best way!). So rather than share everything at once, I thought I’d break it down and give each little detail its own moment.

First up, this absolute masterpiece by YiShi Cake | Denise Her creations are next level. Actual works of art. How on earth is anyone supposed to cut into something this beautiful?!

A little reminder that your cake cutting doesn’t have to be an afterthought. Make a statement, embrace the creativity and let your cake be a showstopper 🎂

A beautiful autumn wedding at Enterkine Country House Resort , with all the golden colours and cosy details that make this time of year so special.

Dani had her heart set on beautiful autumn colours and that inspiration carried right through the day. Pumpkins and gorgeous orange leaves provided by Winton Weddings lined the aisle, creating the perfect seasonal setting. Outside, the trees surrounding Enterkine were turning the most incredible shades of orange, giving us the loveliest backdrop for photos.

It was such a lovely, calm day celebrating two people who share a love of books 📚 and of course, Star Wars! And if there’s one way to finish a wedding day, it’s bringing out the lightsabers for a few photos after dark. ⚔️✨

A little autumn magic, a lot of personality and the perfect day for these two. 🧡

CAIT & PADDY

A beautiful autumnal wedding at BalbirnieHouse

The most perfect autumn day with dry, mild weather and golden tones from the trees surrounding the grounds. Just lovely.

Cait got ready in the gorgeous bridal suite with her bridesmaids. Can we take a moment for that HIGH bridal ponytail?! I think this needs to become a thing because she looked incredible. Then came the surprise… instead of a traditional wedding dress, Cait stepped out in a bridal suit and honestly, it was SO perfect for her. Absolutely gorgeous.

This wedding had a little twist to the usual timeline, and one I would LOVE to see more couples embrace. Cait & Paddy decided to have a first look on the stairs before the ceremony. We then headed outside to make the most of the gardens for all the couple and bridal party portraits before a single guest had even arrived!

It worked so beautifully. Once the ceremony was over, they were free to spend the entire drinks reception enjoying time with their guests, without disappearing for photos or feeling rushed. More of this please!

The brilliant Best celebrant in Scotland * conducted the ceremony, followed by everyone heading outside for confetti before the celebrations really got underway.

As the evening rolled in, we made the most of Balbirnie’s beautiful interiors, capturing some fun shots in the bar and drawing room that suited Cait & Paddy’s style perfectly. Then outside, where the house was glowing under all those twinkling lights. ✨

And finally, a dancefloor that absolutely did not disappoint, with Dramboogie keeping everyone going!

Cait & Paddy, what a day. Beautiful outfits, the loveliest atmosphere and so many brilliant moments. The most perfect autumn wedding. 🤍

The Wedding Photographs are just half the job. There’s a lot of things that go on in the background that we have to make happen to get the best results.

So I am a Wedding Photographer but I also moonlight as…

The weatherman 🌦️
Keeping one eye on the forecast, one eye on the sky, and always plotting around the rain. Plus, never missing a chance to sneak off for golden hour.

Timekeeping ⏰
Unofficial wedding day coordinator? Pretty much. Keeping an eye on the clock, gently nudging things along and making sure we stay on track without anyone feeling rushed.

Hypewoman 💃🏻
Part photographer, part personal cheerleader. Keeping the energy up, reminding everyone how amazing they look and making sure the bride feels like the main character she is.

Kids entertainer 🧸
Trying to get a room full of tiny humans to smile at the same time, whilst they’re dressed in their finest and would rather be doing literally anything else.

Emotional support 🫶🏻
Need five minutes of peace? Want someone to stop the endless stream of questions coming into the room? Need a little pep talk? I’ve got you.

Dog whisperer 🐶
Occasionally taking photos of the four-legged guests. Mostly just hugging them, telling them they’re gorgeous and generally making friends with every dog in sight.

Crowd control 📣
So, who’s going to get 100 guests from the ceremony to the garden for group photos? That would be me. Photographer, people herder and occasional human megaphone all in one.

Multi-tasking 💁🏼‍♀️
Finished with that veil? It will now be my scarf 🧣 need to top up lippy or change your shoes? I will help you do it whilst holding a camera in the other hand 🤚

KELSEY & ROB

Autumn sun, cowboy boots and rock music 🎵 Kelsey & Rob’s wedding had all the ingredients for a brilliant day.

The girls got ready in Carberry Tower’s stunning library while the boys eased into the day with a few whiskeys in the piano room. Then it was over to the wedding chapel for a beautiful ceremony, accompanied by the gorgeous music of Rosie H Sullivan

A big confetti throw led us back to the house for drinks and canapés in the sunshine, followed by garden photos in that gorgeous golden light. We wandered down the driveway lined with orange trees for some portraits before heading over to the incredible 400-year-old tree that Rob was absolutely obsessed with (and rightly so!) 🌳

There may also have been a five-minute dance-off before the speeches, which was so much fun, absolutely recommend to every future wedding 🥹

And with Kelsey and I sharing a mutual love of the Foo Fighters, it’s probably no surprise that when the DJ kicked off the evening with some classic noughties rock, I found it VERY difficult to leave! 💃🏻🤘🏻

A day full of personality, sunshine, brilliant food-loving energy and two very cool people. What a way to get married. 🖤

ELLIE & LEWIS

Carlowrie Castle in its autumn finest, with Ellie & Lewis at the heart of it all. ✨🍂

The sunshine, the golden autumn vibes and those famous red leaves at Carlowrie absolutely popping. Ellie’s dress from The White Collection caught the light beautifully, while baby Ellis in his mini kilt might just have stolen the show. 🥹

Their ceremony took place in the Glasshouse filled with pampas grass and gorgeous autumnal tones. Afterwards we gathered everyone outside for confetti, with the iconic castle as the backdrop - because some moments deserve a pretty spectacular setting.

We wandered through the gardens with the sun streaming between the trees soaking up every last bit of that golden light.

Honestly, we were so lucky with the weather. An autumn wedding at its absolute best. 🤎

THE AFTERPARTY ARCHIVES: 🪩

Evidence that a wedding reception is essentially a very well dressed night out with all your favourite people.

Exhibit A: the friend who said they weren’t dancing 👀
Exhibit B: someone else’s questionable dance moves 🕺

And somewhere in amongst all of it, photographs you’ll still be laughing at in 20 years.

We then move on to a quick 10 minute couples shoot - keeping it raw, messy and real! Pop some ch*****ne 🍾 or just a quick run up the hallway, it’s all about less formality and more chaos 😎

Then end the night with sparklers or fireworks - go out with a BANG 💥

The party deserves photographs too!
