I posted quite a while back now that I would be reviewing my pricing, and unfortunately, I can't put it off any longer.

From Wednesday 1st July, the mini sessions I run at The Mothership Family Hub will be increasing from £25 per session to £29 per session.

I've always tried to keep my prices as affordable as possible. The reason I started these mini sessions is because I genuinely feel it's important for families to have nice photos, and for many, full family photoshoots are just not something they can justify the cost of (and that's fair enough!).

Plus, I have always been very vocal about the importance of getting more mums in pictures with their kids, instead of being the ones taking the photos all of the time (and therefore looking like they don't exist when you put family photo albums together!).

And right now, the whole country is feeling the pinch. Our bills are absolutely massive (and they keep going up) and our incomes aren't increasing at the same rate, making things tighter and tighter. People everywhere have been clamouring for wage increases so they can afford to buy the things they need and pay the bills that just keep going up.

As a self employed person, I don't have a boss to talk to about a pay rise, or a national living wage to ensure I'm making a certain amount per hour. The only way I can get a pay rise is to increase my prices, which then upsets people because they're seeing prices rising everywhere already. I've been covering the increases in rent on the premises I use and other business expenses for a while now without increasing my prices, and that has actually meant I've had a pay decrease over the last year while the national living wage has increased. Not something anyone wants to happen to their income!

So please understand when a small business, whether it's mine, your local salon, the place you buy your fruit and veg, or whoever increases their prices, we're not doing it so we can buy ourselves a flash new car or go on a fancy holiday (I WISH!!!). We're doing it because it's the only way we can have a pay rise too, like the rest of the people out there. Many self employed people I know haven't increased their prices for years (including me!). And our bills are rising too. Not just our household ones, but the bills we pay to run these businesses.

I'll also be reviewing the prices of the other shoots I offer this month, and you'll start to see these price changes on my website. But as these sessions are booked online and are the most popular of my services, I'm sharing that price increase here.

A recent mini session in February with Jade, her husband, and their daughter.

Jade booked in because she wanted some proper family photos of the three of them together.

These sessions are only 20 minutes, so I work fairly simply, but if there’s time I’ll usually try to include both a white backdrop and a black one.

The white backdrop is clean and bright and very “what you’d expect”. But I always like to get the black backdrop in too if we can. It changes the whole feel of the images - a bit more classic, a bit more cinematic, and it tends to strip everything back in a nice way.

Jade actually ended up choosing a lot of the black backdrop images from her session, so I thought I’d share them here as it’s not always just the bright, white setup.

I don’t add in other colours in these mini sessions, there just isn’t the time to properly do it justice, but the black and white combinations keep things simple and timeless. And they just work so well!

They're 20-minute mini family photoshoots, giving families the chance to capture some beautiful memories together.

A recent mini session at The Mothership Family Hub with Amy and her super cute daughter Martha.

Amy's been along to these mini sessions a couple of times over the years, and this time booked in because she’d rediscovered her identity recently after a difficult couple of years and wanted "some photos to celebrate it.” What a great reason to book a shoot!

Amy also mentioned in her booking notes that she’s still breastfeeding and always loves photos of it and that is something I'm absolutely here for!

I always try make a point of asking mums about feeding during shoots - not because everyone wants those photos, but because some do and feel a bit unsure about asking. And if you don’t ask, you miss the chance entirely. I’ve got a few photos of feeding my babies. Not polished, not perfect, snapped on a phone by my husband with my hair sticking up and a very tired looking face, but I’m so glad they exist. Because one day that part just stops. For such a long time it's such a large part of your life, that it's nice to those bits remember too.

£25 Mini Family Photoshoot Sessions at The Mothership Family Hub - now available on weekdays too!

Perfect for parents at home during the week with little ones not yet in an educational setting and especially for Mums to get in front of the camera and IN photos with their children, instead of always taking the pictures.

Just like the mini-shoots I've been running for nearly 5 years now at the Mothership Family Hub, but for the next two months, I'm trialling running them on weekdays too!

SO WHAT ARE THEY?

20 minute mini family Photoshoots for £25. Plus you get one digital image of your choice to keep and print as many times as you like included (which you choose from an online gallery - check out my reels for an example).

If you like more than one image, you can order prints from only £3.50 each (or digitals only £10-20 each depending on how many you buy).

These mid-week sessions will be taking place on Thursday 18th June, and Thursday 16th July and both are available to book now.

Exciting news!

I've been running mini sessions at The Mothership Family Hub for almost 5 years now. FIVE YEARS!

The first session I ran at the Hub was back in July 2021, and over that time I've photographed literally hundreds of families. I've seen them go from little babies to kids starting school, from families just getting started to families with 2-3 children. And it has been utterly amazing.

And due to the popularity of these mini shoots, I'm trialling some mid-week sessions. These are great for the mums with little ones, as Saturdays get so booked up in advance (especially closer to Christmas) and it'll help free up those busy weekends!

I'll be running weekday sessions on:

Thursday 18th June
and
Thursday 16th July

and if these sessions go well, I'll look to introduce more in the lead up to Christmas.

What's amazing is that as soon as I added these dates to my booking system, a couple of bookings came through before I even announced this was happening, so it looks like it's going to be popular!

Ever needed just a few decent pics for your website, but don't have the budget for a full brand shoot?

On Friday 5th June (yes, in 2 days time!), I'll be hosting another mini brand photoshoot day in Berry Pomeroy (near Totnes), and there are still two of spaces left.

The aim is to get a bunch of simple, useful pics for your business. It's not a 'full on' Brand shoot, but it's a great way to get you started if you're on a budget.

Packages are available from only £50. Each mini shoot is 30 minutes long, and includes a variety of images that will be useful for your business. This post shows the gallery from one of these exact same sessions I did in March to give you an idea of what the results are like. You do have the option to upgrade or buy additional images after the shoot if you find there are more that you'd like to keep (but there is absolutely no expectation or pressure to do so, it's just an option for those who want to).

Back in March I ran my Mini Brand Sessions at The Tribe, and due to one thing or another, I've not shared any of the photos yet. So here's a handful (from the ladies that were happy for images to be shared on social media).

I've just realised how quickly the next one of these Mini Shoot Days at the Tribe is! Friday 5th June (which is just over a week away... gaaaaahhhh!). It's creeping up so quickly!

Thankfully, most of the spaces got booked up a couple of months back, BUT there are still some spaces left, so if you're keen to get some 'proper' photos of your for your business, this is a GREAT way to do it if you're on a small budget.... and there's still time to book!
