Come for a little meander with me into my favourite Bluebell Woods ... this is one of two woods I go to at Bluebell time, but is my most frequently visited one - isn't it spectacular! I was just a day or two late on this occasion to catch them at their best, but being over 200 miles away from home it's not easy to always be spot on with the timing. However, they were still stunningly beautiful, the delicate colour and gentle scent of Bluebells en-masse is an amazing thing to witness. I kept the sound on to show the peace and tranquillity within the woodland, although it is at the side of a fairly busy road and a few cars can be heard - when you are actually there it is easy to forget about the road and just get immersed in the amazing experience (unfortunately the phone camera does seem to accentuate the sound a bit). Have you seen a beautiful woodland full of Bluebells too?..............

Put your sound on for this one ...
One day on one of my field trips, whilst I sat to rest on my favourite bench in my lifelong haven, my favourite Red Deer Stag (Hart) suddenly herded his harem over from the other side of the pond - and left them close to me whilst he chased off his rivals. One rival Stag came a bit too close and got promptly told off (sorry, you can hear me say he's not happy). Then a photographer at the other end of the pond got told off by the Stag also, as he tried to get too close - spooking the herd. There were two ladies hiding behind me and the bench taking photo's and couldn't believe I stayed put and wasn't scared, but I know how to behave around the Deer and they were so close to me if I had suddenly moved or ran it could have sparked a panic-fueled stampede, it was safer to sit calmly, put my legs and feet up out of their way and allow them to manouvre around me. (I keep the safe distance from them and use 600mm lens to photograph them, but in this instance they came over to me and it happened too fast to move out of the way). The sound of the big boy's powerful roaring is spine-chillingly magical ... have you ever heard the roar of a magnificent Red Deer Stag, or is this the first time?
I am looking forward to getting back out on location with these beauties ... and hoping for another roaring success!

I was taking a short break whilst visiting my lifelong haven, sitting on my favourite bench watching this gorgeous Red Deer Hind (Doe/Female) and her young Fawn, listening to lots of water birds, with just the sound of Nature to soothe my soul.
Do you have a favourite place to get out into nature? No need to name or identify the location, but if you would like to tell me about it, how you feel when there, how long you have known it etc - I would love to know :) ...........

One of my favourite animals are Red Deer, and it will soon be time for their annual rut. I am looking forward to getting back to my lifelong haven with my camera for this incredible show of strength and power, the sound of my favourite big boys roaring is extremely moving. I have known these herds through many generations and they know I am no threat, but I still keep my distance out of respect for them ... my photo's are taken with 600mm lens on full zoom plus some cropping if necessary. There have been times whilst walking around or sitting to rest that the Deer have come close to me and I had to remain where I was because sudden movement could set off a stampede of panic, but I will never attempt to touch them. Here are some of my favourite rutting season photo's. Have you ever heard the thunderous roar of a testosterone fueled Red Deer Stag, or witnessed the clash of the titans as they locked antlers to fight for supremacy? ...........

Aurora season is just starting again here in UK, and I am looking forward to getting back out into my favourite dark sky areas with my camera. I am still quite new to Aurora photography and have a lot to learn, but here are a few of my photos from recent years. Unfortunately here in Wales clear night skies are a rarity, to get clear sky when there is Aurora showing is even rarer, but let's hope this season will be a good one. Our Aurora is not as spectacular as Iceland and other baltic countries get but it's still beautiful ... who knows, one day I might actually manage to travel out of Wales for it!

Welcome to Utopia Photography (UK). This page was born out of a deep passion for mindful, ethical, responsible and respectful wildlife and nature photography. Getting these shots takes immense time, effort, energy, legwork, mileage, sleepless nights, early starts, late finishes, and lots of patience. Every image here is my own work, captured during my field trips whilst I quietly battle chronic health conditions like Fibromyalgia, Hashimoto's, and severe fatigue, and currently struggle with a Cataract as well. Wildlife photography is a therapy for me, Nature is my healing space, and my camera keeps me moving forward.
Why do I never share locations? : To protect the wildlife, their habitats, and their safety, I have a strict rule - I never name or tag exact locations. Our wild spaces face too much pressure from overcrowding, and keeping these spots quiet keeps the animals safe and wild. It is not to be selfish or mean, it is because I care about the wildlife and the places they call home!
