I wasn't always a photographer...
But I have always been a bit geeky...
I taught myself how program the BBC Microcomputer when I was 10 years old...
I taught myself Pascal and then C programming languages when I was 12.
Something I read last night reminded me....
When I was 12, in 1988, my best friend and I wrote a program for the school network and every break time and dinner time, there would be a mass rush for the PCs (RM Nimbus 186) dotted around the school. We had written a chat program and everyone could talk to each other across the network. (until a dinner lady saw a swear word and it was shut down - oops)
It only occurred to me many years later, we might have created one of the first ever internet chat programs (IRC came out around the same time)! If only we had known what a patent was, I could have been very rich by now...
But I think I am richer in my life for what I do now. This is me and my son in the Outer Hebrides. Life is a series of stepping stones and if I had done anything different to what I did, this photo probably wouldn't exist.
