One year later and I still come back to this day.

Catherine & Jack had one of those weddings that just sticks with you. Not because it was trying to prove anything, but because it felt completely theirs from start to finish.

They were open, relaxed, full of energy and surrounded by the kind of people who made the whole day feel alive. That mix is hard to fake, and honestly, it is still something I think about when I look back through their photos.

A year on, I’m still inspired by the way they did it. They trusted the day, trusted the people around them and somehow made everything feel easy without ever making it feel ordinary.

So Catherine & Jack, happy first anniversary ❤️

I hope life keeps treating you well, that you keep laughing the same way, loving the same way and most importantly, that you never lose whatever it is that makes you two so completely yourselves.

Don’t change. You’re doing just fine.

Allow me to reintroduce these two…

Loud, explosive, unstoppable!!!

On their own, they can do a lot. Together, they can do pretty much anything.

Steffanie & Harry, your photos have officially entered the editing stage, which means it won’t be long before you get to relive all of this properly.

For now though, consider this a little preview of what’s coming.

And trust me… there’s a lot coming

These two absolutely broke my system.

Every conversation we had before the wedding felt less like a client call and more like catching up with people I’d known for years. We laughed, took the p**s, talked about what mattered to them, and whenever they started telling me about their plans I was listening like my favourite artist had just dropped a new album.

I was completely sold on the way they looked at their wedding. For them it was never really about the suit or the dress, although I have to say Rachel looked absolutely unreal in hers. It was about the people around them, the emotions, the experience and making damn sure they actually enjoyed the day they had spent all that time planning.

And Jesus, did they deliver.

Nothing felt like it was being done because a wedding is “supposed” to look a certain way. They loved hard, laughed even harder and threw themselves into the whole thing without holding anything back. That energy just spread through everyone around them, and for me it meant I could stop thinking about what the day should be and just follow what was actually happening.

By the time I got in the car to go home, I was completely finished, but in the best possible way. That weird feeling where your body is done but your head is still replaying everything that just happened.

I felt full. Happy. And properly grateful that I got to be there with them.

Rachel & Giles, you two reminded me exactly why I love this job so bloody much. ❤️

Maybe I should act a bit more professional.

But then I meet couples like Steff & Harry who wake up the party beast in me 😂

Maybe it’s not the most professional thing in the world, but honestly, weddings are an experience for me too. I spend the whole day around the same people, I get pulled into the energy of it all and sometimes it’s impossible not to feel part of it.

And when the vibe is right, I’m not going to fight it.

So yes, sometimes I’ll be laughing with your mates, sometimes I’ll end up on the dancefloor, and apparently sometimes I’ll be singing with the groom.

The photos still happen. I just have a lot more fun making them.

So tell me, would you rather have a photographer who stays in the background all day or one who actually becomes part of it?

They said they found exactly who they were looking for. Funny thing is, so did I.

I met Steffanie & Harry earlier this year at an open day at one of the venues I work with. Usually those chats are quick. A couple stops, we talk, they get what they need and move on. Completely normal when there are so many brilliant suppliers to meet, especially the ones giving out cake.

But they came back...

We stopped talking about the usual wedding stuff and started talking about them. Their family, the people they love, the kind of day they wanted to have and the way they wanted to experience it. Somewhere during that conversation they said something that stayed with me through the whole journey:

“We knew straight away you were exactly who we were looking for.”

I’ve never hidden the fact that I’m not working with every couple. Sometimes people want something different from the way I work, and that’s fine. I’d rather point them towards someone who fits them properly than convince them to choose me.

With Steffanie & Harry, it was the complete opposite.

And everything they had been telling me about for months was suddenly right there in front of me. The people they spoke about with so much love were in the room. The energy they promised was very real. The emotion was everywhere, and every time I thought the day had probably given me its best moment, something else happened.

And maybe this is the part of this job that still gets me after all these years. I get invited into someone else’s world for one day, I watch all these relationships, emotions and tiny pieces of their life come together, and then I get to say that the photographs they’ll use to return to it years from now were made by me.

Steffanie & Harry you told me I was exactly who you were looking for.

Now I can finally say it back.

You two are exactly the kind of people I’m always hoping to find!

There is no way to properly explain yesterday. You had to be there!

I’m just very glad I did.

Thank you ❤️

POV: you’re a bride and finally find this on a photographer’s website…

Planning a wedding already takes enough time. The last thing couples want is to complete another enquiry form, wait days for a reply and arrange a call, only to discover that the price was never going to work for them.

If you don’t want to waste any more time planning your wedding, send me a message. I’ll make the photography part simple. 📩

That’s why I don’t hide mine. Every package, price and everything included is available on my website before you ever have to contact me. You can check it in your own time, decide whether it suits your plans and avoid another pointless round of emails.

Your wedding anniversary deserves more than a quick “happy anniversary” and moving on.

A year ago Rachel & Alex had their wedding day. Months of planning, one slightly insane day where everything happens at once, and then suddenly it becomes something you talk about in the past tense.

That’s why I actually think anniversaries matter.

Not because you need some huge romantic gesture every year, but because life moves ridiculously fast and it’s good to have a reason to stop for a minute, open the photos, laugh at things you’d already forgotten and remember how that day actually felt.

Photos are pretty bloody good for that.

So Rachel & Alex, happy first anniversary ❤️ Go back to it today. Look through the photos, have a drink, talk about the stupid bits, the emotional bits and all the stuff that already feels like it happened five minutes ago and ten years ago at the same time.

And the timing of this one is pretty perfect, because tomorrow I’ll be doing exactly the same thing.

Seven years married.

Apparently I’m getting old.

These photos are 100% posed, but they look completely natural.

You might have noticed that I talk about wedding portraits quite a lot. There is a reason for that. They are probably the part of the day couples worry about the most, yet afterwards they almost always tell me it ended up being one of their favourite moments.

Most of the wedding is pure documentary. I follow what happens naturally without asking anyone to repeat anything. Portraits are different, and pretending they somehow happen on their own would not help anyone.

The word posed has been done dirty for years. People hear it and immediately picture stiff smiles, awkward hands and that uncomfortable feeling of being watched.

But posing is not the problem.

Feeling awkward is.

My job is not to tell you exactly where every finger goes. It is to find the right location, use the best light and give you just enough direction that you stop thinking about the camera and start paying attention to each other.

That is when the magic happens.

For me, portraits are not just about creating beautiful photos. They are about giving you a few genuinely fun minutes together before you head back to your guests smiling, relaxed and wondering why you were ever worried in the first place.

You do not need to know how to pose. You need someone who knows how to make it stop feeling like posing.

📩 Send this to someone getting married who thinks posing has to be cringe.
