Where history sleeps beneath the streets! A sunken hidden Palace 🏛

The Basilica Cistern, Istanbul’s largest underground water reservoir, has an amazing history dating back to 532 AD.

Originally built to provide water for the Great Palace, this remarkable site features raised wooden walkways that guide visitors through an impressive array of 336 columns crafted from marble and granite, showcasing the beauty of Byzantine architecture and its cultural heritage.

Notice the famous Medusa heads at the bases of certain columns, which contribute a unique touch to this historical marvel.
