That summer feeling 🌞

It’s been a wild one for me, autoimmune flare up and chronic fatigue has meant I’ve had to strip everything back…

I’m forever grateful for the woman who’s stepped in front of my lens this summer. You have brought me so much joy in a time that’s made me question everything, even my business.

Today’s my last client summer photoshoot before I head off to capture some private retreats and go on lots of mini holidays.

I have such a bittersweet feeling, I love photographing in the warm glow of summer sunrises 🌞 but I can’t wait for all the golden coloured autumn forest shoots to come.

My client booked a photoshoot because she was having her website rebuilt and do you know what happened?

The photos showed so much of who she actually was. Her personality, her values and interests, all the different parts of her business. Baby massage classes, home massages, retreat days in nature, and goddess flow yoga classes.

She never ended up needing to hire a web designer. The photos did the storytelling themselves, and actually saved her the investment and time.

Imagine having photos that gave your whole business an overhaul from your website, your sales pages, your content, your Substacks, gift voucher branding, even flyers to place in the local spots where your clients already are.

I started a business because I had a passion I wanted to share, to use it as a tool to connect with other women.

And somewhere along the way I got completely caught up in the ‘shoulds’, the strategies, and the algorithm. What’s going viral, what I should be saying, how I should be showing up to be seen as professional. Social media gets hold of us and suddenly we’re looking at everyone else to see who we need to be to market and grow our business.

But here’s what I know.

Nothing is more magnetic than seeing someone’s full personality, who’s being themselves in a sea of trends void of any real personality. Nothing more attractive than a woman with the confidence to be truly visible, not performing visible, actually real.

When you build a business that’s a real extension of who you are, your obsessions, your quirks, your life outside of what you do, it stops feeling restrictive. It stops being a constant battle of hating how you show up, how you look in photos or fearing how you’ll be judged.

Visibility becomes the best way of connecting with clients and getting to do the thing you love most.

Your business doesn’t have to feel like a battle of knowing you should be marketing it but hating how you look in every photo.

It can feel like the fullest expression of you.

Save this before you book your next brand shoot 📸

These are the questions I wish someone had told me to ask on my first photoshoot, because not every photographer is going to make you feel like yourself on camera, and the last thing you want is to spend money on photos you hate and never use.

Your brand photos should feel like you, your personality, your offers, your energy.

And the right photographer will do the work to get you there long before you show up on shoot day.

Too many women in business have a photoshoot and walk away feeling like the photos just don’t capture them. The photos have no feeling to them. Their personality, their warmth, smile, the way a friend would describe their energy.

So instead of having a website and content that makes people instantly feel their shoulders drop, and feel you’re finally the person they’ve been searching for and not hesitate to buy. They convince themselves they’re not photogenic, vow to never have a photoshoot again or even show up in their content. They ghost their own business, take all the joy out of connecting with their followers and sales never increase past word of mouth.

But I’m here to tell you…you are photogenic. 

You can have photos you love, that look and FEEL like you, that shows your personality at first glance and a headshot that does the introduction for you before you’ve said a single word.

Here’s where to start 👇🏼

1. Choose a location that actually feels like you, a setting you’d actually choose to spend time in. Somewhere your nervous system can feel calm, your shoulders relax and your personality feels safe to be seen.

2. Tell your photographer who you are before the shoot. What your interests, values, hobbies and quirks. What makes you, you! A good photographer isn’t just there to take photos, they’re there to make you feel comfortable to be yourself and love the experience of seeing how magnetic you are when you’re fully yourself.

3. Bring something that’s yours. A prop, a piece of jewellery, that jacket you love and feel confident in. Something that tells your story without words. The details are what make people get you know you beyond the headshot.

If I could go back to the beginning, here’s what I wish I’d known to make my website actually convert to sales.

The reality is,we need to show our personality in our business. You are your brand. Your life, your values, your style, your interests.

We follow and buy from people because we see something in them that we want. Simple as that.

So the more you can show who you really are, no shying away, no pretending. The more you’ll connect, and the more successful you’ll be. 

You’re allowed to be quirky. You’re allowed to be different. In fact, the more you are, the better.

I know that going all in on visibility and owning your style will bring you the most joy, fun and freedom. As uncomfortable as it is to be fully seen and known.

So if you’re finally ready to build a business that reflects all of you to create more ease and flow by drawing your most aligned clients straight to you…
