Gander Photography An event is a once in a lifetime experience. I make sure you can be there over and over again. My goal is to put a smile on your face.

I am a portrait, event and boudoir photographer that captures the true emotion of your day, be that a milestone birthday, wedding, barmitzvah or portraiture. That can be by putting you back into the event, highlighting things you did not see or by showing a side of you that you have been hiding. I want people to fall in love with their pictures and in turn fall in love with themselves. I cover all

aspects of photography from maternity and new born, individual & family portraiture, barmitzvah, weddings and other events aswell as boudoir. Working together we collaborate to make the photography an exciting and enjoyable part of your experience. If you have an event to cover, want portraits or have always been afraid of the camera. Let me put a smile on your face that will last with a true photographic experience. Call Julian on 020 3893 8636 or mail [email protected] if you have any photographic needs.

Most people wait to “feel ready” before booking a branding shoot.

Ready to feel confident.
Ready to feel photogenic.
Ready to feel less awkward.
Ready to feel like the kind of person who belongs in front of a camera.

But here’s the problem:

Ready isn’t a feeling. It’s a decision.

If you wait for confidence to show up first, you’ll wait forever.
Confidence is the result of doing the thing, not the prerequisite.

I see this every week.

People walk in apologising for their awkwardness.
For not knowing what to do with their hands.

Then when we start something shifts.

They don't suddenly “feel ready”…
they decide to stop performing.

Shoulders drop, breath returns.
The real person arrives.

Branding photography isn’t about being perfect.
It’s about being recognisable.
It’s about letting the camera meet the version of you that’s been hiding behind “not yet”.

So if you’ve been waiting for the moment you magically feel ready…
stop waiting.

Make the decision.
Show up as you are.
Let the awkwardness be part of the story, it always transforms.

And if you want someone who knows how to guide that shift,
I’m opening a few Recognition Sessions in May.

Come see what happens when you stop waiting for permission.

I tell people all the time:

“Show up as who you are, not who you think you should be.”

And then I realised…
I wasn’t doing that myself.

So here’s me doing the thing I ask everyone else to do.

Awkward. Present. Real.

Not waiting for the perfect moment or the perfect version.

If you’ve been hiding too, maybe this is your sign.

Elena In London ...

Memorable in so many ways. I first met Elena 7 or 8 years ago and we've worked together many many times. This shoot, taken shortly before Elena relocated, was a celebration of London and all that it had to offer. There's a different feel to these. A love letter to the city she's called home for several years. As we finished, sitting on the Mayfair townhouse steps, the final thoughts were "London is magical, you get to be different people, in so many different ways, all in a single day" ... I'd like to think we captured a tiny bit of that.

🔥 The 1‑Hour Photoshoot Is a Complete F***ing Myth 🔥
and here's why ...

There’s a video here of me “setting up the studio.”
Which is generous.
It’s more like watching a man lose a polite argument with gravity and common sense all at once.

People love to say:
“Yeah, it’s just a quick one‑hour shoot.”
Adorable. Truly.

Here’s the real timeline:

00:02 Move one chair → entire room collapses like a dying star.
00:09 I’m redesigning the space like I’m pitching a new religion.
00:17 A light stand attempts su***de.
00:26 I’m on the floor hunting for a cable that definitely didn’t exist yesterday.
00:41 The room finally looks effortless.
00:42 I remember I haven’t even opened the camera bag.

The “1‑hour shoot” is a myth.
A fantasy.
A fairy tale story told by people who think good photos come from “just popping in.”

Great visuals take time.
They take safety.
They take presence.
They take… whatever the hell is happening in that video.

If you want fast, go to a passport booth.
If you want to look like the version of you that actually moves people, you need intention, not a stopwatch.

I’m Jules.
I turn awkward into confident and “fine” into unforgettable.
I partner with founders and teams who want visuals that actually move people. If you’re ready for that shift, reach out.

Branding fails when it tries to make you look “professional.”

It works when it lets you look human.

"I just kept looking at myself in the mirror and grinning, look at me, I look so awesome."

I take photos for a living and even I have this moment
Camera comes up → stomach tightens → brain whispers:

They’re going to see the thing I’m hiding.
So you do the “safe” thing:
Straighten up. Take a deep breath.
And suddenly… you look like everyone else.

If you want that to show up in your photos, try this:
Name the insecurity quietly to yourself.
Ask whether it actually makes you less trustworthy.
Relax one thing, not everything.
Talk about something that matters while the camera’s on.

Small shifts. Big difference.

What insecurity do you think people notice first?

Do your photos look like you or
Do they look more like the photographer wants you too?

Ever look at your branding photos and think, “Why do I look like every other consultant on LinkedIn?”

It’s that your photographer didn't come from the right place. Getting to know you first. Understanding who you are, where you are coming from and where you are going. It's all a part of making you less awkward, more excited and capturing the reel you.

Get the wrong photos and you won't use them, because the photos don’t feel like you. You don’t need “better photos.” You need photos that get you.

That’s why I start with a conversation, not a camera, so your next shoot reflects the version of you that’s finally ready to be seen.

If this hit a nerve in a good way, save this post for when you’re ready to step into the new you.

It's not about the photos

Nope it's about how you feel when you take them. Get that right and the energy flows.

Beth came in tense, nervous, guarded.
She left laughing, relaxed, and saying she felt in safe hands.

That’s the difference between guessing alone… and being guided by someone who actually sees you.

If you want photos that make you look as good as you are, and nothing like anyone else, let’s shoot.

Question Time

Has ANYONE is my network EVER used one of the selfie studios you can hire and shoot your own headshots. If so I'd love to have a chat...

Branding images aren’t uncomfortable.
You’re just mistaking excitement for fear.

Most people walk into a shoot thinking they need to “perform.”
Hold still. Look professional. Pretend they’re not buzzing inside.
But that buzz isn’t panic. It’s possibility.

When we work together, I’m not pointing a camera at you —
I’m creating space for the version of you that’s been trying to surface.

Conversation‑first, camera‑second.
Presence over posing.
Anti‑awkward by design.

Because the moment you stop trying to “look right,”
you start to feel right.

And that’s when the shift happens.
Not the smile.
Not the angle.
The identity reset.

Your visuals aren’t boring because you’re shy.
They’re boring because you’ve been safe.

You’re not scared of being seen.
You’re excited to finally show up.

**What part of you is ready to be seen.**

What's better than a new client .. a returning client.

This week, exactly 3 years to day we shot together again. Not for the second or third time, but for the fifth. I can't share more than the selfie we took at the end just yet but believe me when I tell you we had a blast.

I'm shooting for Valentine's right now. One session available Wed next week. And a few in the first weeks of Feb still available.

Want to do something different this year. Come hang out.
