⛪ DID YOU KNOW? LIVERPOOL CATHEDRAL TOOK 74 YEARS TO BUILD! 😲

One of Liverpool's most iconic landmarks, the magnificent Anglican Cathedral, took an incredible 74 years to complete — from 1904 to 1978!

🏗️ 1904 – King Edward VII laid the foundation stone.

⛪ 1910 – The Lady Chapel was completed.

🔔 1924 – The Cathedral was consecrated, despite still being unfinished.

🏛️ 1934 – Construction began on the enormous central tower.

👑 1978 – Queen Elizabeth II attended the service marking its completion.

Designed by Sir Giles Gilbert Scott, the Cathedral survived two World Wars and generations of change before finally being completed.

Sadly, its architect never got to see his masterpiece finished, passing away in 1960.

⛵ DID YOU KNOW? BOLD STREET WAS ONCE USED TO MAKE ROPES FOR LIVERPOOL'S SHIPS! 😲

Long before Bold Street became one of Liverpool's best-known shopping streets, the area was connected to the city's booming maritime trade! ⚓

Back in the 1700s, rope makers used long, straight stretches of land known as ropewalks to twist h**p fibres into strong ropes for the sailing ships that filled Liverpool's docks.

Imagine walking down Bold Street today, knowing that over 200 years ago, workers were making ropes for ships that sailed across the world! 🌍

It's a fascinating reminder of Liverpool's incredible maritime past.

And here's something you might not know — the surrounding district is still called the Ropewalks today! ❤️

No matter where you go on holiday, you can always spot a Scouser! 😂 It’s like having a sixth sense. I remember being in New York City and seeing this fella. Something just told me he was from Liverpool, so I went over and said, “Are you a Scouser, lad?” And sure enough, he was! 😂 It’s fantastic, isn’t it? You can travel halfway around the world, but you’re never far from a Scouser! ❤️
