The Light WILL Change. It's how you cope with it that counts.

In my latest video I use a specific technique for birds in flight, as I adapt to the changing conditions on the coast.

Close up of an Emerald Damselfly, taken on a recent workshop with 2 lovely clients. The colours in this particular damselfly were particularly beautiful. They do have a bit of a metallic quality to them too.

I've cropped this by about 50% to concentrate more on the head and legs.

Shot with Canon EF 100mm F/2.8 Lens, hand-held.

I love to make 'In the Field' Tutorial Videos where I share the challenges of nature photography. My aim, always, is to make it feel like you're there with me - on my shoulder if you will.

In this vlog I'm photographing roosting insects, early morning, with a macro lens and a tripod. I'll show you how I overcome problems, using various techniques, to get sharp, well-lit photos.

Have you ever accidentally taken a photo that turned out to be one of your best? Or at least inspired you to try something different?

Photography should be about trying new things. It's not good to get stuck in a rut.

This Gannet in flight was 'accidentally' taken at Bempton Cliffs a few weeks ago. I'd never really paid that much attention to this effect in my own pictures until that day. Now it's made me want to go back and experiment more!🙂

Question: Do these out of focus highlights class as 'bokeh'? I find this a fascinating word. There's various definitions (some of which contradict themselves!) but it's all related to out of focus areas of the image. The word originally comes from Japanese.

Did this caterpillar just make itself look like a Question Mark ?
