Yesterday I joined Emily & Aaron for their wedding at The Priory Barn & Cottages near Wetherby — and what a lovely, family-filled day it was! ❤️

With their two kids, cousins, Geordie-filled guest list and 6kg of Haribo, this was all about having fun with the people they love most.

There were some lovely personal touches too: Gran’s jewellery tied to the bouquet, an ancient pocket watch, and their daughter’s dress and pocket squares made from the mother of the bride’s wedding dress. 🥹

After a wonderfully romantic ceremony (complete with perfectly timed thunderclap at the kiss the bride moment!), we did the classic Priory balcony confetti shot and guests got stuck into drinks! After rain cleared and we’d done a few groups, we snuck off to the orchard for one of my favourite bits of the day: Emily & Aaron reading their personal vows to each other. Such a beautiful, emotive moment — and definitely one I could photograph at every wedding!

Speeches, beef bourguignon, a surprise singing waiter turned the room into a napkin-waving conga line. 😂

As the sun turned golden, we grabbed a few final portraits before cake cut and a first dance gatecrashed by kids! Basically, perfect!

Huge congratulations Emily & Aaron — have the BEST time in Robin Hood’s Bay! 🥂

Yesterday I joined Sophie (Sophie) & Marcus (Marcus Kauffmann) for their sun and fun-filled wedding at Goldsborough Hall near Knaresborough! ☀️

I joined the girls at a stunning cottage near Armscliffe crag for their preps, then my wingman Paul and I headed to GH for final dressing up! An Anglo/Dutch affair, it was a fabulous meeting of cultures that always get on famously (marked with Dutch and Yorkshire roses in the bouquet)! 💐

Their adorable Spaniel Ava enjoyed her role as ring bearer and treat hunter. Sophie’s brother walked her down the aisle, and his son nailed the reading from Winnie The Poo, before heading out through a tunnel of confetti. Outstanding canapés, live music, lawn games and even a live painter (who’d done the stunning stationary) doing live guest portraits made for an unforgettable reception on the terrace. 🐾

Before the lovely speeches, nominated ‘captains’ (with armbands of course) kept vibes and drinks filled up, and it wasn’t just the newlyweds who were partial to spontaneous dance breaks! 💃🕺🏻

The whole day flowed seamlessly (thanks to Ali & Rachel and their ace Goldsborough Hall Weddings team), as well as all the awesome suppliers (who were either recommended or known to them, such as a friend making the cake, or Sophie’s childhood Piano teacher)!

It’s so cute that these guys went on their first date exactly 5 years ago to the wedding day, and that Marcus had a groomsman stop his pocket watch the minute they got married, so it can be marked forever. ⏰

What a fab day and fab bunch! 🫶 Huge congrats to this amazing pair.

Yesterday I headed over to Nottinghamshire to join Jessica () + Tom () for their amazing wedding at Hodsock Priory!

My wingman Paul and I covered fun-filled preparations, the boys, fuelled by Jack Daniel’s, suiting up in the Clubhouse, while the girls rocked out to Metallica as they got ready in the Morning Room. Jess finished getting into her gown in the stunning Honeymoon Suite, overlooking the lawn set up for their outdoor ceremony 😎

After teary bridesmaid and dad reveals, we headed to the sunny, Greek-themed ceremony, complete with olive trees and lemons. Jess had recorded a surprise message for Tom before heading down the aisle to a string quartet. They also remembered recently departed pooch Oliver, their beloved fur baby and hoped-for ring bearer, with his dog suit and collar hanging on an ‘in loving memory’ board 🥹

After beautiful vows, we threw confetti on the Gatehouse Bridge, followed by group pics (a nice level of chaos with 7 bridesmaids, 6 groomsmen and a groomsmaid)! Guests had flown in from around the world for this epic, LGBTQ+-friendly celebration (Jess is burlesque performer ‘Medusa Ensnare’, and it felt like half the women there were part of the circuit)! 🏳️‍🌈

The rest of the day was super chill, with delicious grub and no less than 6 brilliant speeches! Then came cake, dancing and a first dance that started with Etta James’ ‘At Last’ before the needle dropped into The Darkness’ ‘I Believe In A Thing Called Love’… Far more their speed! 🎸

What a fab day and fab bunch! 🫶 Huge congrats to this amazing pair.

Yesterday I joined high-school sweethearts Roshelle + Aidan for their wedding at the seriously cool woodland wedding at Cockley Wood Weddings near Wakefield 🌲

After 18 years together, the arrival of their lovely little daughter made them finally decide to made it official — with a beautiful blessing, followed by fizz & BBQ grub around open fires. Somehow it remained relaxed and family friendly at the same time as being one hell of a party, with golden-hour wanderings, plenty of laughs, and a shots of strawberry tequila on the dance floor! 🍾🔥💃

I love discovering funky new wedding venues around Yorkshire, and Cockley Wood is a gem! ❤️ Big thanks to Chloe and the team and the brilliant Celebrant and MC Melody for keeping it chill!

Stylistic Note: The Newlyweds have chosen not to feature photos of their daughter here, so this is a slightly condensed post (as she was in every other photo!). But do wander over to my blog (link in bio) for a fuller post.

Here’s wishing this lovely family (including their rescue Beagle Zeb!) huge congratulations, a wonderful life together filled with potatoes, cross-stitch, Hunslet RLFC and wine!

Last Friday I joined Emily () + Kevin (Kevin Zhang) for a fun-packed wedding at the beautiful Tithe Barn at Bolton Abbey! ❤️

The day kicked off at Emily’s parents’ gorgeous home in Sutton-in-Craven, where Team Bride were preparing for the arrival of Kevin and his entourage. Cue Chinese ‘Door Games’ involving cash-filled red envelopes, balloon popping, charades, freestyle rapping and a photo fit challenge… all to prove Kevin was worthy of marrying Emily! 🧧

After a lovely dad/daughter reveal, we headed to their local church for a charming ceremony, complete with violin, piano and a beautiful solo from young Aiden that moved more than a few guests to tears!

Then it was off to Bolton Abbey, where The Tithe Barn looked fab, also decked out in lucky red. Shenangans continued with Chinese Baijiu shots, a traditional tea ceremony honouring their elders, brilliant speeches, a delicious spit-roast duck dinner and an athletic Lion Dance performance!

As the golden evening light rolled in, Emily, Kevin and I snuck out for a stroll and some photos overlooking the abbey, before heading back for the first dance, some seriously impressive robot moves, more Baijiu, a bouquet toss and plenty of sparkler carnage! ✨

It was such a pleasure to spend the day capturing Emily + Kevin’s brilliant celebration. What a party! ❤️

It’s tough squeezing all the best pics here, as there are SO many! So use the link in bio to see my extended blog post in all its glory!

Another random call I received recently was from a graduand (the posh name for a student who’s finished but not yet graduated) asking if I might like to shoot some portraits at her graduation around York - where she’d been studying Medicine. So I said sure!

I met her and her fella by the always impressive York Minster for a few solo and couple pics, before her fam turned up for cuddles and a few relaxed family pics.

I loved the mix of candid, staged and freestyle pics we captured around the minster (down my fave secret backstreet!) as well as a few around the York Uni Campus and lake. It was fun to bump into a few other course mates! I also loved how she also brought along ‘Hully’ an elephant teddy she’d had made out of her uni scrubs!

Fun times

Out of the blue, a while back, I was asked to do a ‘Bollywood Themed’ couple shoot in Leeds.

So last week I met Neha + Bharat in Golden Acre Park in Leeds (a fave park of mine for loads of my pre-wedding practice shoots).

They’re having a Hindu Wedding later this year, but wanted some funky pics, with a nod to Bollywood! The main rule: NO ACTUAL KISSING ALLOWED! Which was fun to do!

It was a shoot of two halves: one in Traditional Indian Dress and suit, then a costume change (in the cafe loos!) into casual clothes for round two.

These guys smashed it! I love the COLOUR and fun and dancing and joy…

(This goes to show I don’t have to be shoot your wedding to do a cool couple shoot - do get in touch if you fancy one!)

I recently joined Sarah + Phil for their microwedding at Woodlands Hotel and St James’ Church in Tong Village, near Leeds!

Sometimes 3 or 4 hours of wedding photography is all you need for as intimate weddings, like this one with just 15 guests.

I joined this relaxed pair - who actually met in school 27 years ago - before their ceremony for a few quiet portraits around Woodlands. They then jumped in a stunning Shelby Mustang (a replica of Eleanor from the movie ‘Gone In 60 Seconds’) and zoomed to the church where their 5 kids and a few select family members were waiting.

The ceremony by their vicar Helen was a delight - with a fun sermon about bubbles! - and after hugs, confetti (and more bubbles) we headed back to Woodlands, for a quick round of family & mingle pics, followed by a champagne toast, and as they sat to enjoy Woodlands’ delicious grub around one long table, I bid them farewell!

I’ve been doing more and more short wedding coverage like these, and it’s great to provide lovely wedding pics in just 3-6 hours, without photos dominating an intimate day.

Yesterday I joined Susan & Andrew for their fabulous wedding at Tupgill Park, in Yorkshire’s beautiful Wensleydale!

I’ve only visited in the past for the forbidden corner, but there’s so much more on wedding side of it! Tonnes of stunning accommodation, an incredible country house with lawns overlooking the beautiful Yorkshire Dales, an amazing timber Bell Barn for the ceremony and meal and incredible grounds and lakes to wander in for pics!

Susan & Andrew threw a beautiful, family-focused wedding with generations from great, great grandmas all the way down to newborns! While the Dalesy weather was that classic ‘all seasons in a day’ it didn’t dampen proceedings (especially with singing waiters whipping everything into chaos!).

Enjoy the teasers and the full story & photos will soon be up on my blog at www.barnabyaldrick.com/blog
