During Harrington Marina funday 26 - coastal communities, Cumbria Fire & Rescue Service delivered a live Road Traffic Collision (RTC) demonstration, giving members of the public an insight into the work carried out by emergency services when responding to serious road traffic collisions.
Crews from Workington Fire Station, attending on a reserve appliance, worked alongside crews from Whitehaven Fire Station to demonstrate vehicle extrication techniques, including the controlled cutting-up of a vehicle.
The event also brought together a number of emergency services and partner agencies, including:

๐ North Cumbria Search and Rescue
๐ Whitehaven Coastguard Rescue Team
๐ Penrith Fire Station, attended with their Command Unit
The RTC demonstration served as an important reminder of the potentially devastating consequences of collisions on our roads. The equipment and techniques demonstrated by firefighters highlight just how complex a serious road traffic collision can become, and the vital role emergency services play in protecting and rescuing those involved.
This event provided an excellent opportunity for the public to meet the services who work together to keep our communities safe.
