One of my favourite things about maternity sessions is including the children who are about to get a brand new title too.

For them, pregnancy is such a strange concept. There’s a baby in Mum’s tummy, everyone keeps talking about it, and at some point apparently this mysterious little person is going to come home and live with them 😂

Including older siblings gives you photographs of that relationship before they’ve even met. The excitement, curiosity and all those little conversations with the bump become part of the story too.

So if you already have children, please don’t think your maternity session needs to be just about you. They’re very welcome to come and be part of it. ❤️

Newborn photography doesn’t have to be full of props, colours and elaborate setups to be beautiful.

Sometimes a soft colour, a simple wrap and one very sleepy little baby are all you need. These are the photographs where you really notice the things that change almost immediately, the wispy hair, those tiny lips, the curled up legs and that unmistakably newborn shape.

If you’re currently expecting, booking before baby arrives means I can reserve space for you around your due date. We don’t need to guess their actual birthday or commit you to a session date months in advance. Once they’re here, we arrange the details around you and your baby.

There’s something about a photograph like this that really shows just how tiny a newborn actually is.

A little head resting safely in Mum and Dad’s hands, completely surrounded by the people who are going to spend the next few years holding, carrying, comforting and probably wondering how somebody so small can generate quite so much washing 😂

I always like to include some simpler parent and baby images during a newborn session. They don’t need elaborate styling because the scale tells the story all by itself.

And I have a feeling that when this baby is no longer remotely small enough to fit into two hands, this one will hit very differently. ❤️

There's something about Summer that makes me want to choose summery colours.

And you don't get much more summery than yellow!

My diary is filling up fast for newborn sessions for the rest of this year, if you are expecting and thinking about a newborn session, then I strongly recommend reserving your session in advance.

We just use your due date as a guide, so you don't have to worry about early or late arrivals, we will arrange the actual shoot date once your baby is here.
