INTO the SHIRE
Quite honestly most of the Lake District in Spring is so beautiful it feels surreal with vibrant greens of new leaves, the call of newborn lambs everywhere honestly pure magic. We discovered this little gem of a valley on our way to Slater's bridge. Just a handful of people passing through mainly local dog walkers, the early morning cloud giving way to bright sunshine which lasted most of the weekend too. For transparency I edited out a sign on the gate which somewhat ruined the composition!

S U S S E X D A Y
So today we celebrate Sussex Day and all that is great in our County. I thought I'd share one of my favourite images which really sums up the beauty of this place and the National Park that stretches right across the area. Fingers crossed for weather like this in the coming days!

M I R R O R
After recent weather and me got pretty lucky for our 4 day trip back in May to the Lakes probably too good in fact for photography but nevertheless to see this area in Spring is really breathtaking with the lush colours of Spring and lambs everywhere! Bit of a early start to get to this spot for pre-dawn with mirror like conditions. Swipe for the first light on the Langdale Pikes.

AN EVENING STROLL
A couple of unplanned images as we headed out and back from Llanddwyn island. As we approached the beach I noticed the couple with their dog and waited for the perfect moment! In the second shot I just liked the curve of the channel although it didn't lead anywhere especially but the backdrop was rather splendid.

CHAPEL in the SEA
The stunning Eglwys Cwyfan on Cribinau island. Tricky to photograph especially in the harsh light of day but I loved the little puffy clouds passing by and the scene worked well in black and white.

SENTINEL of the SEA
Trwyn Du Lighthouse with it's striking humbug design cries out for a monochrome edit and the blustery moody sky created a nice atmosphere. The sea was choppy and messy so I used a half second exposure to smooth it out whilst leaving some swoosh to the waves. I waited patiently for the sidelight to return to the lighthouse and the gap in the clouds to be directly above it which I feel works well. As a bit of the island is unavoidable in the image, the large rock on the other side helps balance the shot. I do like a cool lighthouse 😎

TO THE LIGHTHOUSE
3 Images a few minutes apart of the stunning South Stack Lighthouse on the NW tip of Anglesey at Easter. Would love to know which is your favourite or which one you think works best. The light and conditions were simply breathtaking. We could even see the coast of Ireland! 🤯
What a place to watch the sun go down.
Have a great Sunday after all the rain yesterday!

TRANSIENCE
I'm not sure if there are many things in nature more beautiful than a field of poppies or a woodland of bluebells or wild garlic. There's something appealing about uniformity of form and colour tied in with the light and sometimes warmth of Spring and Summer that lifts the spirits. Maybe the joy is enriched by the knowledge that these moments are fleeting to be locked away as a treasured memory, grateful to have been there. Watched the flowers sway in the gentle breeze, feel the warmth of the sun on your face, and just be glad to be alive. As all things transcient they are gone before you know it but one of the joys of photography is to try and capture the essence of that feeling and moment and when you do it's great ☺️. Sorry for the border but Instagram hates photographers who want their work seen in it's original format 🙄Enjoy the scrolling pano if you swipe 👉

CRIMSON CARPET
Same spot looking away from the sun just as it set. The poppies radiate such strong warm light don't they. Sadly these have all gone too soon. The strong winds and storms have destroyed all the petals. 😥. Glad I spotted this field and went out the same evening to find them. Hopefully more will spring up as we head into June.

ABLAZE of GLORY
The moment the sun emerged from behind the ominous band of dark cloud was so brilliant in all senses it took my breath away. The poppies exploded in translucent crimson glory, like ruby jewels sparkling as they swayed in the gently breeze. I managed to capture this moment quickly focus stacking the scene at f9 and a separate exposure for the bright highlights in the sky at f22 to produce this sunstar effect. Unbelievably beautiful, the warm sunlight and the scene before me was a true moment of joy I'd never have experienced if it wasn't for my passion for photography ☺️
