MOONSHINE
A full pano of the lunar eclipse at about 2/3rds eclipsed. There was some low lying mist at this stage before more low cloud moved in which I feel adds atmosphere to the scene. Notice the shadow of the arches. Have a great day.

ECLIPSED
The full eclipsed moon just before it disappeared in the low cloud and mist drifting around the viaduct. I'm lucky to live only 10 minutes from here so got up a bit earlier and stopped on my way to work. Bit late to the party again but have a couple of other shots to come. Personally this was more impressive than the solar eclipse mainly because you can actually look directly at the moon, watch the shadow slow creep across and see the colour change.
This is a single exposure lined up with the arch with a bit of toing and froing! 😂

THE EDGE
A glorious last light on the Seven Sisters. This shot is only possible for a short period when the angle of the setting sun casts beautiful light, highlighting the dramatic edges and undulations of the cliff face along the coast. The sky turned a pinky hue as the clouds drifted away. Can you spot the people on the cliffs and on the beach below. Trails & Bales
A night under the stars watching the Perseids meteor shower. This one is a time lapse stack taken over 3 hours showing the apparent movement of the stars around the North Celestial Point close to the North Star ⭐. The glowing light of a passing train was the only other light used to illuminate the foreground. These images are a bit marmite you either love them or hate them! I won't be offended 😂

P E R S E I D S
After an incredible evening with the partial solar eclipse, Cliff and me (after a well earned dinner in Seaford) headed to Ouse Valley Viaduct to attempt capturing the annual perseids meteor shower. I'd seen some hay bales in the field a few days before and knew this would make a great foreground as the scene faces directly towards the rising constellation of Perseus which is the radiant point from which the meteor shower appears to originate, hence their name. They are actually particles of dust, minerals and debris traveling at up to 130,000 mph as they hit the upper atmosphere as the Earth passes through the remnants of comet Swift -Tuttle. In the moment they are vapourised they glow briefly and sometimes streak across the sky. You may notice the green tinge on many of these due to their mineral content. This image is a composite of the best ones taken from the same position with the same camera settings of ISO 1600 f2.5 25s at 14mm. The foreground was taken by lowering the camera ISO 1600 f4 25s 14mm as a train passed over the viaduct creating a strong light source helping reduce noise in the image. The sky background was a stack of 13 images in sequator using some of the images already taken. Sequator is great software as it preserves detail whilst reducing noise allowing greater detail to be brought out in the stars and also eliminates unstable objects such as considerable plane trails and starlink satellites! ROLOS
Ok so they're straw bales but you get the idea idea 💡😂.
A beautiful end to a beautiful day a few weeks ago.
Anyway I just want to wish you all a wonderful World Photography Day. To all you photographers, followers, likers, commenters, acquaintances, and friends thank you for being there on my photography journey. Honestly, I've been so lucky to have had so many incredible moments with my camera and shared this passion with some truly awesome people along the road. I hope to cross many more paths in the years ahead with some of you. Whenever I look back on my images I remember how it felt to be there, and the many laughs I've shared, and the joys of just being out in nature. C R E S C E N T
I very briefly removed my solar filter on my old canon 250d, set the exposure to 1/4000th of a second and the smallest aperture of f22 and hoped for the best as I really wanted to capture the full scene of the partial eclipse..this was a couple of minutes after the maximum phase as the moon slowly drifted away to the left. I was delighted to see that I caught a lovely sunstar with that closed aperture and the silhouettes of onlookers near the lighthouse. I took one other shot at 1/1000th sec and an aperture of f8 to get a cleaner foreground which produced surprising sharpness and emphasised the glow on those parched brown grasses.Swipe for the pano ➡️

S O L A R E C L I P S E
Bit late to the party but hopefully worth the wait and the hours of editing! All 27 sun images shot at 500mm f6.3 3x bracketed exposures to bring out the glow from the sun. Stacked,blended and aligned in Photoshop to the correct angle of 38.7 degrees to show the true path of the sun at this position. Foreground was a single exposure close to sunset. I was careful to transform the size of each sun image to it's correct apparent size from the location. I used 'blend if' in Photoshop to make the image as realistic as possible and I'm delighted how it turned out. Scroll for a 2 shot pano plus scroll through. MAXIMUM
This was the moment the solar eclipse reached its maximum on the South Coast in Sussex near Belle Tout Lighthouse yesterday. What a stunning sight and I will be posting a full sequence at some point! Want to thank my good friend Clifford Thomas we had a blast and followed it up with a long night watching the perseids meteor shower. 3 hours sleep but 💯% worth it. I remember the eclipse of 1999 as my wife and me went all the way down to Start Point on the tip of South Devon under the line of totality. It was an incredible experience watching the sky turn black on the horizon and seeing the shadow of the moon race across the sky from Cornwall totally spine chilling, but sadly cloudy so it was great to see this so clearly.

R O L L I N G D O W N
A beautiful warm Summer's evening up on the Downs taking my good friend Clifford Thomas to a well known classic view with the unexpected but very welcome addition of some straw bales. The tram lines here make for a terrific composition accentuating the curves of the Downs,helped by the addition of light and shade and those trees are just 🤗. My Spring shot from here was featured on Nigel Danson latest video where he talks about other photographers images and there's some great tips in there well worth a watch. Enjoy the cool morning before the next heatwave kicks in!
