Nine years ago today,
I handed my notice in to my full time, permanent, very safe job that I’d had since I was 17 years old & officially became ‘self employed’.
At the time, most people thought I was bat s**t crazy.
I had a mortgage & bills to pay, freshly postpartum & mentally I was pretty much hanging on by a thread at that time after fertility treatment & a really traumatic birth, but I just knew in my gut that it would all work out ok.
Long nights watching youtubes with a 3 month old asleep next to me, teaching myself everything I could about running a business.
Driving a 14 hour round trip to invest in newborn safety training, running so many ‘giveaways’ I lost count, just to get my name out there.
Having MANY breakdowns along the way.
Fast forward to now,
I’ve supported my family for almost 10 years from this little business of mine.
I’ve been 9 months pregnant in the dunes with you guys.
My mum has now been working for me for 6 years.
My diary is booked out 18 months - 2 years in advance.
99% of my bookings come through word of mouth & recommendations.
I’ve had clients travel to me from ALL over the UK.
I guess the whole point of this post is,
Take the leap. Push yourself out of your comfort zone. Even when it feels super scary & people look at you like you’re crazy.
Nothing good ever came from playing it safe.
Thank you to every client who has ever trusted me over the last 10 years, you are the beating heart to Little Loves, and I feel so privileged to get to tag along during your most important chapters of life.
The backbone of Little Loves is my family, my hubby for being my soundboard, the best Dad in the world & doing all the number, my mum who is next to me through it ALL, packaging orders, helping with childcare / admin, my dad who builds every set, brings all my crazy visions to life & hangs around to chat to every client when he’s home for the day, and my grandparents who are walking advert boards & basically tell anyone who will listen (mostly strangers in tesco) that little loves is their granddaughter! 😂
