Conditions this morning were ideal for going out for a paddle so I headed out of St Brides and made my way to Stack Rocks. I had a lovely time and saw plenty of wildlife. although the jellyfish seem to have disappeared for now. This arch is part of Stack Rocks.

Luckily I didn't spot this undead pirate and his hellhound until I was exiting his treasure cave or I may not have ventured inside. They look quite intimidating. As it was the only thing I found was a string of buoys. I didn't venture into the pool and around the corner into the darkness, which given the warning waiting outside was probably a good thing. Their treasure is safe for now, until a more intrepid explorer risks their wrath in the quest for riches.

One of the biggest thrills I get from my kayaking, apart from exploring the caves I find, is that I can get close to wildlife without disturbing it. On occasion it also seeks you out to have closer look. I have, on one occasion, had a seal hear me singing to myself and the come to investigate and follow me for a while. I wonder what was going through its head. Mostly though, it is seabirds that I see the most, and I enjoy seeing them just as much.

I have visited this cave a few times now. Beyond the large boulder/rock shelf in front of me there lies another chamber. One day, when I have someone else with me to act as a safety net, I shall enter it and discover what lies within. Until that day it remains a tantalising mystery that calls to me. This visit is the first time that the gentleman with his impressive headgear has appeared to me. He is rather stern looking...a warning, maybe, not to attempt my explorations on this occasion. Do you see him?
