Prestwick Golf Club 175th Anniversary

The Birthplace of celebrated its 175th Anniversary last week and I had the great privilege of being asked to provide my Photo Caddie Scotland service and capture the golf events on Thursday & Saturday.

Thursday was 175 years to the day of the club's foundation when 57 gentleman met in the Red Lion Inn on 2 July 1851. The Inn is still there today.

Prestwick is one of my favourite courses and clubs. I love that they have maintained the great history and traditions of our game and yet have kept pace with modern developments. The course is so historic and special too.

The golf course was in beautiful condition and with the wind blowing, it provided a good test to the members, both from Scotland and around the world. Old Tom Morris, who laid out the original 12 holes, would be proud I'm sure.

A fun day playing in the Golf Scotland US Masters singles final today on the Torrance course at Fairmont St Andrews - thankfully the biblical thunderstorm that arrived just as I stepped onto the 1st tee passed over - and after an hour we got going and the sun came out again. Wish I'd brought my camera! 😄
