It was great to see Pedal on Parliament resurrected yesterday albeit with a bittersweet sadness that so many people still feel our roads are not safe enough to cycle on - despite decades of protesting.

For me it was strange to attend as a normal punter, without the organiser worries I and others have become accustomed to - kudos to those who have taken up the relay torch!

My full set of images are on the Pedal on Parliament group flickr pool here:

My top 20 images from this years Paisley Book Festival

It's always a joy to work a OneRen festival with the brilliant team there and the lovely Paisley atmosphere!

From meeting Saint Nicola Sturgeon to being challenged by Mike Garry to capture a "normal" face, to seeing the Fun Lovin Crime Writers (Val McDermid, Christopher Brookmyre and Doug Johnstone) play in the flesh, hearing Jenni Fagan who wrote one of the most devastatingly beautiful books I've ever read - Ootlin - read from her new one, witnessing J.L Givens connect so closely with the kids who love her books, and seeing Dougie Payne getting down with the kids, this years was a belter!

From meeting, photographing and having my copy of Raveheart signed by Graeme Armstrong, to hearing the heartbreakingly put together words of Len Pennie and Michael Mullen, and seeing Sally Magnusson heroically overcome a broken leg to appear, and loving the stories being told by Yasmin Hanif, having my mind blown by the existence and popularity and amazingness of The Book Club Scotland, to going especially early to capture the wonderful Loud Poets Slam where Spencer Mason not only hosted a writing session but then went on to win the slam.

Beezer of a weekend!

Absolute solidarity to my fellow NUJ members at STV News striking after huge reductions in staff numbers followed by their latest 0% pay offer. Refusal to talk has embarrassingly for their management ceased any election results coverage today - please avoid using any STV services today folks!

Thanks loads to the Hoxton Hotel, Liberton High School and the Sheriton Hotel for allowing me to come along for a few days in Edinburgh to get these images of work taster events run by the amazing folk at Developing the Young Workforce.

I've always found this building kind of compelling. It's a draw-off tower they tell me.
