Peat cutting- for generations on the Isle of Skye, peat has been cut by hand from the bogs, stacked to dry through the summer, and used to heat homes during winter. This labour-intensive tradition connecting communities to the land.

Snowy Skye

It’s been a week! After very heavy snow fall all over the Highlands this cut off our wee village for seven days. Two gritters that had attempted to clear the road but both gone off the road, new measures were needed.

The community was finally dug out with a big thank you to John from Torrin, who used his tractor to clear the route, with additional support from Iain to ensure everyone getting over the hill safely.
