Artist Bryony Graham is the founder and director of Hamilton MAS, the micro art space on Bent Hill in Felixstowe.

Quietly enriching the creative and cultural life of Felixstowe, she describes it as a 'micro space with macro ambition'.

Hamilton MAS supports and showcases diverse and cross disciplinary art work and projects with artists and organisations from near and far. As a working studio and disability-led space shaped by Bryony's own experience, it often collaborates with artists who also live with invisible disabilities. At its creative core is love, empathy and connection.

John and Janet are two of the friendly faces behind the Felixstowe Museum at Landguard Point. As part of a dedicated team of volunteers, they help keep local history alive through their time, care and community spirit - often sharing their own memories with visitors.

Their work happens quietly, sometimes behind the scenes, but always with enthusiasm and a genuine passion for preserving the stories that make Felixstowe feel like home.

𝗙𝗮𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗙𝗲𝗹𝗶𝘅𝘀𝘁𝗼𝘄𝗲' ~ Darrell Fishbeck

Known to many folk of Felixstowe as “the bald guy from Texas", Darrell has become a bit of a local legend. After years of long‑distance love, he finally swapped the heat of Texas for the sunny Suffolk coast to be with his English wife. Now he’s a social media favourite, sharing honest, funny snapshots of life here compared to life back home in the States. But behind the videos and the humour is a role far more meaningful. Darrell is The Port Chaplain in Felixstowe & Tilbury, for the Mission to Seafarers, a position many people have never heard of, yet one that quietly carries enormous weight in the shipping industry. The Mission’s work is often confidential, helping and supporting seafarers in deeply sensitive situations.

Thousands rely on them every single day, trusting chaplains like Darrell to be a safe, steady presence when life at sea can become overwhelming.Their priority is simple: that seafarers and their families feel completely safe in their care. Mental health struggles are common among those who spend months away from home, and Darrell is there to offer emotional and spiritual support, whether that’s stepping aboard a vessel or welcoming someone into a Seafarers Centre.

'𝗙𝗮𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗙𝗲𝗹𝗶𝘅𝘀𝘁𝗼𝘄𝗲' ~ Darren Aitchison, Mayor of Felixstowe and an Independent Town Councillor.

It was a real pleasure to meet up with Darren and include him in this project. He’s involved in so many community groups across Felixstowe and carries such genuine pride for his hometown. People like him are the heartbeat of this wonderful place.

"My involvement in community groups from Felixstowe School, to the First Responders, the Felixstowe Society, and the Friends of Felixstowe Community Hospital, has shown me the strength and kindness that run through this town. It’s in our volunteers, our teachers, our carers, our businesses, and our neighbours, the people who quietly make Felixstowe a better place every single day. Through roles such as Chair of the Royal British Legion, Chair of the Felixstowe Relief Charity, and founder of Felixstowe Helping Hands, I’ve seen what we can achieve when we come together. Felixstowe’s greatest asset is, and always will be, its people".
