This was a nice little looking jet to see display, and hope I get to see it again one day!

Piper Chasers taking off at Duxford D-Day flying day last Saturday.

The L-4 Grasshoppers were capable of short take-offs and landings, and became the U.S. military's primary "Eyes in the sky" during WW2.

During WW2, these unarmed Piper L-4 Grasshoppers would've been used to hunt down and force larger, armed enemy aircraft down. One of these aircraft would've been the (and most famous example) German Fieseler Fi 156 Storch, which during WW2, had been shot down with C**t. 45 Pistols!

In the strong wind that day, they were able to practically hover in the air and stay almost still yet move away when needed. They're very nimble aircraft! 🛩️

Another shot of the PBY Catalina at IWM Duxford on Saturday. This is why I love clouds in my aviation shots, they add so much drama and I can do more moody edits like this..

Despite the strong winds yesterday preventing all but 2 displays, I managed to get a few decent shots at Duxford's D-Day Flying Day..

Sadly it's something that can't be helped, and this is the second worst weather I've experienced at Duxford - the first being the finale last year where only this Catalina, and the Typhoon went up. The Catalina always seems to be able to fly no matter what!

A few of you may have seen my story last night and wondered why I shared it. .

Well there was a good reason!

One of my photos is being used in this years brochure for the Typhoon Display Team!

I was going to reveal the good news once I had the brochure in my hands but after seeing this story last night I couldn't wait any longer!

I'm not sure what photo was used yet as I submitted 5, so I can't wait to see which one made the cut, when I pick up a brochure this year!

I've now had this, and attended the RAF photo competition awards ceremony late last year.

It looks like all of my hard work is finally starting to pay off! 🤙✈️

The Frecce Tricolori taking off at RIAT last year. It was my first time seeing them and I hope to see them again some day; they put on quite the display!

Just been reading that they use to use the F-86 Sabres before their current MB-339PAN. I would've loved to have seen that. I love the Sabre!
