BTCC in black and white.

It's been many a year since my bnw phase, so I thought I'd desaturate the hell out of the photos I caught at the Knockhill stages of the Touring Cars.

Do all photographers go through a black and white phase while they're trying to find their style? I did for a while and thought it was arty af.

Created for a client who has poured a lot of time, money and effort into restoring this stunning Ford Transit Custom DI back to how he remembers it from childhood.

Everything down to the finest detail was considered and replaced with like for like components. With something this special, it was important to have something to hand to show off to friends and family when it isn't practical to drive it out of the garage.

Following the shoot, I compiled a hardback book with full page and entire spreads of photos taken as a keepsake for this special vehicle.

What a incredible weekend for Plato Racing AT Knockhill this past weekend! It was a lot of fun watching and photographing both cars battling at the front of the field and still bringing the silverware home to celebrate on the podium. This was one of THREE times I got covered in champagne, but it was worth it for the shot!

Jason Plato is a name that reminds me of being a lot younger and hearing him mentioned on the TV while my dad had the Touring Cars on. Quite an honour to see him in person!

Highlights from yesterday's BTCC at Knockhill Racing Circuit.

It started out incredibly wet, but I do love shooting in the rain! As the day progressed, the weather improved and we were treated to a sun-soaked finale to finish the day off.

I spent a lot of time in the paddock, capturing the various this that take place over a touring car weekend.

On Saturday I got home covered in mud. On Sunday I got home covered in champagne! The tale of two motorsports.

Voly Grampian Forest Rally 2026 - British Rally Championship (BRC)

I spent most of today getting covered (and I mean COVERED) in dust and shooting photos of cars absolutely sending it round the forests of Aberdeenshire.

I've completely fallen in love with shooting rally this year and today solidified this further, however the wind carrying the dust into my eyes made it a challenge!

There was quite the range of entrants in the con petition, but as always my favourite has to go to any of the Mark II Escorts - just perfection!

Off to Knockhill tomorrow for the BTCC!

I've got a fairly busy weekend coming up... First, it's off to Aberdeenshire for the Voly Grampian Rally, which I've been so excited for since I added it to the calendar many months ago!

After that, I'm back at Knockhill for the biggest event of the year - the British Touring Car Championship is back in town!

Last year was a scorcher with some incredible racing throughout the weekend. There's nothing quite like seeing the likes of Aidan Moffat and Tom Ingram sending it down the hill on two wheels with no fear or hesitation whatsoever!

It'll be flat out in every respect, but I can't wait!

It would be cool to just post nice photos, wouldn't it?

I won't moan too much, but I imagine a lot of photographers also feel the same. Do we really need to strap GoPros to our heads and create behind the scenes reels just to get noticed these days? Yeah, I suppose that's what the Holy Algorithm demands so it's probably why I'm not so great at social media... 😂

Here's one from a shoot with a rather expensive Jaguar E-type restomod, where I had to climb up the side of a boggy hill to snap from this angle. No, I didn't have the correct footwear!

For those of you who are new around here, or if I just need to refresh your memory, here I am and this is what I do.

I'm Andrew - an Automotive and Motorsport Photographer based in the East of Scotland. If it has wheels, I'll take photos of it. If it goes fast, slow, or doesn't go at all, I'll take photos of it.

My objectives on a shoot are simple - capture the moment, the aesthetic and the emotion of the subject and the people behind it.

2026 has been a great year so far of shooting images for clients to cherish and to show off their best side online and in print, and there is so much more to come!
