On World Photography Day I thought I’d share some of the kinds of photos we used to share here. The ones that aren’t perfect, they’re not my best, some of them are blurry but all of them are special for a reason. Including the first one of me in freezing sea at Brighton!

I’ve popped a note in each one to share a little about what the photo means to me or the reason I’ve chosen it.

Whatever your skill level and whatever camera you use, I hope you all appreciate the value of your photographs. For you and for the generations who will come after you ā¤ļøšŸ“ø

It hasn’t been a great week for Northern Ireland. The thuggish, racist behaviour of a tiny minority has left the rest of us feeling a mixture of sadness, anger and really quite mortified.

All I really want to say here is that the picture that has been painted of Belfast, in particular, this week, is not the real Northern Ireland. I went out for a walk in our town of Donaghadee on Wednesday evening and while many businesses had closed, The Cabin was open for ice cream, local bars and restaurants were open, the sailing club was out on the water and people were out on the pier with their families and dogs. And it was so lovely to see, my faith in humanity was restored just a little bit.

If you’re keen to see a little bit more of what Northern Ireland is really like, check out The Emerald Explorer ā˜˜ļø, LOVE BELFAST ā¤ļø | News & Events and Discover Northern Ireland. Men in black balaclavas or, indeed, boxers masquerading as balaclavas, do not represent the majority of the people who call this wee country home.

COLOURS OF MALLORCA

It occurred to me on holiday that while I love the experience of a place when I’m there, when I think about that place it’s often in the colours that I associate with it.

In my head, Greece is the bold blues and bright whites of the islands; Scandinavia is the soft muted colours of natural materials; Italy is the warm ochre and terracotta of the Tuscan countryside.

And for Mallorca, it’s clearly the aquamarine of the sea and the jewel tones of the flowers - along with a couple of other faves!

šŸ’Œ LITTLE LIFE POSTCARDS

I missed the vast majority of last spring, enjoying little snippets from my hospital bed and eventually from a wheelchair. So I’ve really been trying to make the most of it this year, being outside as much as possible (it might be sunny, but when will the temperature get the memo?!!) And the blossom has really been putting on a bit of show 🌸

These are just a few highlights from the last few weeks, including: a trip to our fave ; our Easter Sunday dawn service and breakfast; crafting some cute bunnies for my nieces; sunny spots at home; playing the music of Hans Zimmer; a minor (major šŸ¤”) obsession with ; and playing at Record Store Day. Oh, and some blossom!!

It’s possible I may have to get the big camera out for those pink petals before the wind gets up and clears them all off 🌸🌸
