Kinbane Head – the beauty of the Causeway Coast

Kinbane Head (White Head) one of the most striking coastal landmarks on the Causeway coast. The name referring to the limestone of the promontory.
This is the site of Kinbane Castle.
It is a stunning location, though the ascent is quite demanding; while going down isn't difficult, those 140 steps can break you, when climbing your way back.

The headland itself can be a bit eerie to walk on, even during the day, but when I think back to being there alone at night a few years ago, in the same spot, with absolutely nothing visible except the light from the Rathlin Island lighthouse in the distance. I’m amazed I managed it. Even though fear did rear its head a few times.

A place absolutely worth visiting, especially on a beautiful, sunny day.

Solar Eclipse 2026

I came within a hair's breadth of not taking a single photo.
Conditions were terrible all the way to Glenshane Pass until we landed in Antrim.
And the sky has cleared up a bit—we've got it! 😍

Dunluce Castle & Noctilucent Clouds Magic

The iconic ruin of Dunluce Castle bears witness to a long and tumultuous history and matched by tales of a banshee and how the castle kitchens fell into the sea one stormy night in 1639.

I have photographed this castle against the backdrop of the aurora, fog, and the Milky Way, but this is the first time I’ve captured it against the phenomenon commonly known as "night-shining" clouds—the highest and coldest clouds on Earth, which glow electric blue and silver during summer twilight.

'Burt Castle - Harvest Sunset'

Almost all of us know this building at the top of the hill in Burt, Co. Donegal. Built between 1560 and 1580 by the O'Doherty clan on an elevated site overlooking Lough Swilly. I visited this gem recently to capture it during the longest day in the year at the sundown.
You can sense that the harvest is in full swing, and the silence at this time of day is broken only by the sound of farm machinery in the distance.

Sunset Drive - Downhill

Seacoast Road is one of the most picturesque roads on the coast. When driving down to Downhill Beach at just the right time in summer, the place takes on phenomenal colors.
As you drive down towards the beach, it feels as though the ocean and the sky are on fire.
