2025 has been my first time doing the 52Frames photography challenge, taking one photo a week according to the prompt.
I haven’t completed a full year yet, having only started in the summer, but 29 weeks in, these are some of my favourites so far!
Week 25– Daily Ritual
- Eat, Sleep, Haircare Routine, Repeat— a snapshot of my hairstyling routine
Week 26– Fluid
- Vibrato— capturing the fluidity of playing the violin with a long exposure shot
Week 28– In the Style of…
- Flower Funeral— inspired by the photography of Billy Kidd ( )
Week 31– Colour Temperature
- Wrocław Rooftops— a holiday shot taken on Cathedral Island, Wrocław, Poland
Week 32– Macro
- Wasp Watering Hole— a lucky shot of a wasp drinking on a bottle
Week 33– Abandoned
- Crack in the Door (or Window)— some shots taken at the disused Umberslade Baptist and Mortuary Chapels
Week 34– Low Key
- Alien Blues— my first 52 Pick! I used a Pringles tube for a spotlight effect and wore red glasses to cast a contrasting colour across my face
Week 35– Reflections
- Cheers!— this shot was taken on a mirror covered in water, then flipped upside down
Week 36– Shoot From Above
- Life Imitates Art; A Real Birmingham Family— a lucky shot taken from the top of Birmingham Library, featuring Gillian Wearing’s “A Real Birmingham Family” statue— the statue itself is of sisters Roma and Emma Jones, celebrating their close bond and their children Kyan and Shaye— what really finishes the shot is that the statue features Emma pregnant with her son Isaac, and in the shot is a third child, in the pram!
Week 37– Out of Place
- Polyphonic— an attempt to combine a serious (I hope 😂) expression with an absurd pose, creating a comedic shot
Week 39– Soundtrack
- Lucy Dacus: Thumbs— possibly my most gruesome shot, but also my favourite, and my second “52 Pick”— this shot is inspired by Lucy Dacus song Thumbs, a surprisingly heartwarming song about protecting loved ones, despite the violent subject matter
