A last minute trip out to Clee Hill last night. Despite buying my star tracker in 2021 opportunities to get out are so limited and so dependent on conditions. Living in North Birmingham (Sutton Coldfield), dark skies are miles away in any direction…
I wanted to go out on Thursday but it was just prohibitively hot so when skies cleared last night I headed out on the hour-and-half drive to Clee hill.
Astro is a science - it’s all about timing (of day, of month, year, of moon phase), weather (cloud cover), light polution and location and I’m always learning due to the lack of opportunity to regularly do it.
Pleased how these turned out given some schoolboy errors - forgetting to put a tripod mount on my R5 (took battery grip off), not able to get tripod mount off R6 to use (no Alan key), remote timer only compatible with R5, and a stuck CPL on the 24-70 meaning I lost 2 stops every time I used it… anyway it turned out ok
