“I drove many cars during my career, but the Lotus 72 was the best. The 72 talked to me, and we understood each other, it was consistently fast” - Emmerson Fittipaldi. I remember as a kid, a friend having a scale model 72 on his window sill and admiring it, before I knew what F1 even was.

Was able to get as up close and personal as I dare with this beauty while at Race Retro the other weekend. It's amazing just how small that tub is!

Whilst the glitterati were most likely returning from the ice racing at St. Moritz, yesterday I was at Stoneleigh Park for day two of Race Retro. Got to see some pretty rare machinery (Lotus 72 anyone?!) and also a rather bonkers priced RS500 that went at auction for £562,000 :O Is this people 'snapping' up legendary ICE cars before they become a thing of the past and we all get pushed in to EVs (for those who can afford them anyway ;)). There was also some epic stuff on the stage outside, RS200s, 6R4s etc. etc. More to come :)

More from last weekend's opening weekend at Gasoline Juice. Can I just say, how beautiful is that Jag XK120?! It hadn't been there long when I arrived, so managed to experience *that* smell that classics have, I'm sure you know what I'm talking about.

Thought I'd have a giggle and submit a shot for this week's IAP award theme, rear views. Well, there are four of them so might increase my odds ;) Hopefully by the end of this year I'll have a bit of an archive I can actually dig through to find something worthy :) This is from 2020's Concours of Elegance.

While up at Lewis' Takona gathering at Gasoline Juice on Saturday, as I mentioned before I got to jump in on a impromptu shoot (which actually involved six of us), swiftly arranged by with Jon's imaculate E39 M5. I'll be honest, I felt a bit of a bit of a fish out of water as I rarely spend more than a few moments composing what I think might be a good shot in my head, only to roll it in glitter once I'm home in Lightroom. it was good to watch the guys process, scouting the area for potential locations and directing Jon as to where could work (and also watching Jamie seriously considering climbing some of the sketchiest looking wooden staircase which thankfully he bailed on after some convincing ;)).

PS The toolkit is utterly original and complete!

Those that know me well, know that I'm not a fan of early mornings unless it's really necessary - 7:45am this morning,a Sunday at that I was up at the local jet wash giving my Clio a second bath in a week (I should add that the first wash wasn't actually done by me, but after a full valet I couldn't see it filthy so soon from driving for four hours on salt encrusted motorways). Yesterday I went up to Northampton to one of Lewis' Takona meets along with Carburettor Coffee at the newly opened Gasoline Juice - so new in fact that the Grand Opening is actually taking place today. The venue has been created in one of the buildings at a heritage site that was once a 'Royal Ordnance Depot in Weedon Bec, dated from 1802.' The gathering saw a really cool eclectic mix of machines (and yep, I probably have taken too many shots of the yellow Esprit ;)) and great car people who were only too eager to chat about what they'd brought along. I also got to catch up again with some of the usual IG suspects and the icing on the cake was tagging along on an impromptu photoshoot arranged by with a lovely guy, Jon, and his E39 M5 which you'll see toward the end of the set. Yesterday was a good day!

Bit of a departure from my usual stuff at Bicester Heritage's We Are Scramblers Japanese gathering today. Unlike a usual Scramble meet, I suppose you could consider these a breakfast meet, each with its own theme. Still not yet managed to see a Hakosuka or a Kenmeri in the flesh as of yet (just in case anyone is willing to oblige....?!) Did get to see a MkV Supra though, and a GR at that :)

Thought I'd revisit this shoot with from what seems an eternity ago (and I'd imagine you're getting a little bored of my Scramble shots by now ;)). This was my first ever paid gig, and I was nervouse as hell! Alex, as it turned out was at January's Scramble with said Midget, do you think I could find him?!!

Hump day, and the first week this year I'll be doing the entire week.. easing into it gently ;)

This weekend I'm definitely going to sort out my calendar, but for now you'll have to make do with more Scramble shots.

As I'm trawling through my keepers, I'm realising I need to get more shot of actual/whole cars what do you guys think? Or do you like the detail shots, the paraphernalia, the people?

PS How bonkers is the teal of that leather seat?!!
