Many photographers offer Christmas mini sessions lasting around 20 minutes, whereas I allow 45 minutes for each session. Babies and young children can be wonderfully unpredictable, and you never quite know how they’re going to react on the day. Enter Kenny 😂! This gorgeous boy was soooo tired, he'd just awoken from a nap in the car and I don't know about you, but when I've just woken from a nap, I'm in no mood to be sociable 😂! So we spent a little time getting to know each other and then we decided that his Mummy should get involved in the photos! And hey presto, the smiles began to flow and he began to really enjoy himself! What an absolutely beautiful boy with the most gorgeous smile 😍.

I absolutely adored Logan's Smash 'n' Splash, we had such a lovely time! And there was no messing with him, we flew through the entire shoot in less than an hour 😂! This little guy meant business! 😍

🤍 What should parents wear for newborn photos?

When planning your newborn photography session, one of the most common questions parents ask is, “What should we wear?”

The good news is that keeping things simple works beautifully!

🤍 Choose soft, neutral colours. Creams, whites, beiges, soft greys and gentle pastels create a calm, timeless look while keeping the focus on your beautiful new baby.

🤍 Keep outfits simple and comfortable. Think soft knits, classic shirts, flowing dresses and cosy cardigans. Avoid large logos, bold patterns or very bright colours that might distract from those precious moments together.

🤍 Add a little texture. Chunky knits, delicate fabrics and soft layers can add warmth and depth to your photographs without taking the attention away from your baby.

🤍 Most importantly, be comfortable! Your newborn session is all about capturing the love and connection between you and your little one. When you feel relaxed, those natural, heartfelt moments shine through.

And remember, there’s no need to have a brand-new outfit or anything fancy. Your baby will always be the star of the show. 🤍

♥️ Little reminder if you’re expecting…

Newborn sessions usually happen when baby is between 10 and 14 days old, which means most parents book their space during pregnancy.

I’ve just finished editing this beautiful session with Billy and his lovely Mummy & Daddy and I just love how natural these moments are.

Yesterday saw the beginning of this year's Christmas Sessions 😍. And one of my favourite things about these shoots is the amount of returning customers that come back to me every year. Ralphie is now 6 and I've been photographing him since he was a newborn. And Honey is now 2 and this year's Xmas shoot went sooooo much better than last year's 😂! When I actually thought I may have to send their Mummy away with no photos at all! They were both absolutely perfect, my favourite little returning clients!

🩷 Booking your Newborn Session 🩵

One of the questions I am asked the most, is when should I book my session?

The best time to book your session is usually around the 20 week mark. I'll ask for your due date which will go into my diary and then once baby arrives, we'll schedule your shoot.

Newborn photos are best taken under 21 days old because babies are at their sleepiest, most flexible, and still naturally curled in "womb-like" positions, making it easier to achieve classic, peaceful poses. After 2-3 babies become more alert, wake easier, and start to stretch out.

Because I only book so many newborns a month and because the window for a newborn session is so short, you will only be guaranteed a session to take place in the first three weeks, if you've pre booked your session.

So don't delay in booking your shoot because I don't have a time machine 😂! They really don't stay little for long and once those early newborn days have gone, we really can't get them back!

The window for a Newborn Session is only small, and sometimes it can pass by before you know it! But don’t worry if you’ve missed it, there’s still plenty of time to capture those precious memories. 🥰

Little Smiler Sessions are perfect for little ones aged 3 months and up, capturing all those gorgeous smiles, cute expressions and blossoming personalities. They’re such a lovely way to remember this special stage!
