Hey, I’m James, a documentary wedding photographer in Kent and throughout the UK. Hopefully you can get to know me and my work a little better whilst you’re here. My job, and absolutely joy, is being a wedding photographer, which has more to it than you may think. To me it means befriending the couples I work with while getting to know their vision for their wedding. It’s gaining the trust of thos

e couples so they can completely relax on their wedding day. It’s going the extra mile to get that jaw-dropping photograph. And, most of all, it’s presenting each and every couple with a set of wedding photographs that will make them smile with memories and laugh at the moments they had forgotten. It’s capturing beautiful photographs that reflect each wedding day perfectly. As I said, I’m a documentary wedding photographer. As the name suggests, this means that I am there to document your wedding day. Therefore I focus on capturing real, natural and unposed photographs which reflect the day as it happens. I love the moments that make each wedding day unique. You know the type- like the one of the bride on a space hopper or the groom sneaking off for a congratulatory cigar. One of my favourite moments was an overjoyed couple unashamedly crying throughout their ceremony. Believe me, they’ve all happened and are part of the reason I love what I do! The lovely Meg & Jordan’s couple session shot entirely on film 🎞️ ! No digital cameras were used in the making of these photos 🤓

If you told me 5 years ago I’d be doing entire sessions and (soon weddings) on film I would’ve thought you were crazy! There’s no way my little heart could’ve handled the stress back then 😂. How things have changed over the last 5 years!

I did this session with a combination of 35mm film and 120 film using Kodak colour film (mainly portra 400) and black and white film (Tmax 400).

How are you supposed to fit a wedding like this into just 20 slides 🤯! I could quite easily have doubled the photos in this post and it still wouldn’t have been enough to tell this incredible story 🤩!

The energy from the start of the day right up until the end was insane 😁!! I don’t think I ever saw Iona and Ben without smiles on their faces throughout the day! I knew this day was going to be special and it absolutely did not disappoint 😁! The main goal I set myself was to try and bottle up as much of the energy and joy from the day as I possible could in the photos I made, so I hope you can feel it too as you look through these photos ☺️.

Iona and Ben, from our very first call I knew you guys were special, and seeing you on your wedding day surrounded by all the love from your friends and family just confirmed that for me. I’m so grateful to you both for letting me be a little part of your incredible journey!

St Albans Cathedral Wedding

One of the things I’ll always love most about this job is the incredible people I get to meet, and the privilege of being part of such an important day in their lives.

Natasha and Rory are two incredibly special people, and I’m so glad I got to photograph their wedding day. Their ceremony at St Albans Cathedral was so beautiful. The cathedral held so much personal meaning for them, which made the ceremony feel even more special.

After the ceremony, we headed off to Redcoats for their reception, which was the perfect setting continue the celebrations.

Natasha wore the most beautiful from 🤩.

I absolutely loved spending the day with Lily & Hal at their beautiful Pennard House wedding 🤩. These two are such a lovely pair, and their whole day felt so relaxed and full of joy.

One of the things that stood out to me most was just how present they both were. Their focus throughout the day was on having the best time together and celebrating with all of their amazing friends and family.

Even the weather being a little temperamental 🌧️ didn’t stop them from fully embracing the day. You could genuinely feel the happiness and joy throughout every moment ☺️.

Pennard House was the perfect setting for such a relaxed and elegant wedding day. The whole team there made everything run so smoothly and created such a calm feel feel to the day from start to finish.

I’ve also got to give a special shoutout to my second shooter , who captured some really incredible moments throughout the day 🙌🏾
