Last week, I had the most amazing time away at with an incredible group of female photographers and some truly inspiring trainers.

It was such a wonderful experience. I learned so much, took part in some amazing empowerment photo shoots and came away feeling completely re-energised, both as a photographer and as a person.

I was also absolutely amazed to win five awards! I was genuinely in complete shock and still cannot quite believe it. I received three second-place awards and two third-place awards across the Family, Newborn, Portrait, Alternative and Children categories.

I am so grateful to everyone who voted for me and supported my images. It really means so much.

This was the third Creative Recharge retreat, and every year it gets better. I absolutely love catching up with everyone who returns each year, as well as meeting new photographers and sharing such a special experience together.

A huge thank you to Jade for organising everything and creating something so inspiring and uplifting.

This month I’ve felt so emotional about my children growing up. I’m not really sure why or what’s triggered it… maybe it’s just one of those mum moments where time suddenly feels very fast.

So whilst looking back for photographs to share, I’ve found myself completely reminiscing over photos of my own girls.

Here is my second born, little India-Rose. 💕

Again, I took these photographs just days after giving birth — running on hardly any sleep, completely exhausted, but so desperately wanting to capture every tiny detail. I think she was maybe five or six days old here.

The sibling photograph will always be one of my favourites to take for parents. That instant love between brothers and sisters… it’s just magic every single time. In this case, two sisters.

And isn’t it funny how we all hate being in photographs ourselves, yet we spend our lives photographing the people we love most. I didn't take enough photographs with them when they were little so I am trying to make up for it now wth family photoshoots :)

This is my daughter in her daddy’s arms, aged just five days old.

I’d had a C-section and was still in recovery. I was exhausted, emotional, and honestly struggling… but I remember feeling so desperate to capture every tiny little detail of her. I was completely in love.

I took this photograph in the bedroom — my husband knelt on the bed against a plain wall — nothing fancy at all. But I loved it so much. Looking back now, I quite possibly think this was the photograph that started my journey into newborn photography away from being an Art Lecturer.

Just look at how tiny her little feet were.

And now she’s 15 years old and will probably be absolutely mortified that I’ve posted this picture of her as a baby… but I still love it just as much today.
