Kate Kirkby is a Bristol based photographer who lives with her husband and two young sons. Her love of photography started at a young age and and this passion was confirmed when she took a 'year out' to study photography after finishing her degree in engineering. Since then she has held several successful exhibitions of her work and spent the last 10 years working as a family photographer and mum!

Whether you want to put your photos in an album or hang them on the wall, having a gallery that works as a cohesive set of images will make all the difference.

I have wraps and blankets in a wide range of gorgeous colours so if I am able to co-ordinate this with your outfits then your whole gallery will look glorious!

Myla was 18 weeks old when I met her and it was such perfect timing. Full of adorable smiles and she had just about perfected doing push-ups. I also managed to capture her very first attempt at sitting - with a little help from my basket!

At 5 or 6 weeks old your little one will start to be a lot more alert than those first few weeks. You may feel that this is the perfect time for a photoshoot, to capture those adorable first baby smiles. However, at this stage they are still very unpredictable and it can be difficult to make the most of your time in the studio. I recommend waiting until they are around 4 months old, when they will be full of smiles and learning new tricks every day!

Three things you need to know before booking your newborn photoshoot...
1. You really don't need to worry about baby being unsettled and crying a lot. I have photographed over 600 babies (I've lost count!) and I have lots of tricks up my sleeve...many people have called me the baby whisperer!
2. The whole session is very relaxed. I understand that you may not feel like leaving the house when baby is only 2 or 3 weeks old but all you need to do is sit on my sofa an relax... I will do all the hard work!
3. You don't need to worry about bringing anything with you (apart from nappies and milk!) I have everything that I need for baby.
